During our move from TN to VA we had to find pet friendly hotels. Sometimes pet friendly options aren’t so people or pet friendly. However this Holiday Inn Express was great. Our room was huge and it came with a microwave and mini fridge. I truly appreciated the spaciousness because I do not like to leave my dogs in the hotel room alone. I typically stay in the room the entire time. The breakfast was good and included a lot of options. There was a small business center that came in handy as my husband needed to send some paperwork to his new boss. The staff was really friendly. I’d stay here again.

Great place for families with pets. Rooms were big enough to actully move around in, beds fairly comfortable(3 of 4 really liked, the princess in our group thought beds were too hard, but she thinks that of most hotel beds.) Hotel was clean and quiet and had a super-friendly, polite and helpful staff. Plenty of outlets for charging all our electronics, good cable TV(carried MASN, which is good if you are a Washington Nationals or Baltimore Orioles fan.) Grassy, well lit area for dog walking around 1⁄2 of perimeter of hotel. Good breakfast bar with extra long hours 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Basic breakfast items including eggs, sausage, gravy, biscuits, whole wheat toast and english muffins. Tasty cinnamon rolls. Coffee and hot water available 24⁄7 in breakfast area plus coffee maker in room. My family will stay here again. We and our dog were made to feel very welcome and valued as guests. I give five stars because what this hotel offers was done very well. What is not offered at this property is a fitness/exercise room or inside pool. And a better room design would have the sink outside the bathroom or a second sink outside the bathroom. But these are minor quibbles. overall a good value and a comfortable place to stay.

Why would you put a top rewards member on the 1st floor right around the corner of the lobby? Why would you give them a fairly noisy room? Out of rooms? Parking lot not full. Hmmm. Shower head had crust, rust on fixtures in bathroom. Breakfast in all HIEs are very basic, but this one was completely overcooked and dry. Attendant should not dessicate everything. Maybe she’s instructed to. The manager last night sure was unpleasant and grumpy… not just to me. Pretty disrespectful to the guy trying to help me check in, too. Jerk. If you dislike people so much, find other work!

We were very happy with our stay here. The staff was genuinely friendly, the rooms were lovely, and the breakfast was really good. We decided to stop here to meet my daughter because it was the halfway point between where we both live and we were returning her dog to her after her honeymoon. We found the area and Holiday Inn Express charming and will be going back. When I got home I realized I’d left my cell phone charger in the room. I called them and they sent it to me free of charge right away. I’d highly recommend staying here. It’s the nicest pet-friendly place I’ve ever stayed in.

Stayed here overnight on the way to Texas. Room was clean and spacious. Free breakfast and allows pets. Unable to connect to wifi, which was a bit of a bummer. I talked to Danny on the phone and he checked us in. He was very friendly and courteous. Would recommend to those on a road trip!

Right off I-81, so it’s conveniently located. Fairly standard Holiday Inn Express experience. Free hot breakfast. Room equipped with refrigerator and microwave. Bed linens were comfortable. Towels are a little hard, though.

Nice place. Stopped here on a road trip across the country. Clean and well-maintained, and the staff were polite. They include a free breakfast with your room, which was surprisingly good. Only complaint is that there isn’t much nearby if you want to sit down for dinner — we had to drive a few miles down the interstate after checking in to find a cluster of restaurants with dining areas. Rates are very affordable, and free wi-fi is included.

Room seemed a little run down but not bad. Everything worked, the bed and chair were comfortable, shower was great, lighting was okay, no noise from interstate in our room, friendly front desk crew, decent HI-E breakfast buffet, and pretty nice pool. We stayed three nights so this isn’t a midnight check-in and 8AM checkout review. If we stay in Abingdon again this is where we are staying. OHYEAH — some first floor rooms allow pets — something I’ve never seen at HI-E before.

Decent basic hotel. No fitness room but you can use the fitness center across the street for free.

My hotel when I have to visit Chilhowie. The Tavern is down the road… along with other eat options. Wireless is very slow here. No work out facilities on site… you have to go across the street(free when you show your key). Always have USA Today’s. Breakfast is standard Holiday Inn stuff

I can tell, this is the best hotel we have ever stayed at, and we stay at a lot. Tthe room was clean, with multi-pillows, lush down comfortors, ample chairs, fridge, microwave, lots of towels and coffee supplies, but the best part of this stay involved the very caring, personable and professional desk, breakfast and cleaning staff… they were delightful! Helpful, willing to share or look up information, give directions, and genuinely care about our needs… Great, hot and always stocked breakfast area, with steaming coffee and lots of smiles… I can’t wait to return to my hometown and book this hotel for another full week… a great experience!!!
