I have visited this restaurant several times with groups of tourists during a winetour to Requena, normally we are about the only foreigners. This place serves very typical dishes from Requena, lots of meat, soups, stews etc. Since Requena is in the mountains the winters are much colder than in Valencia and eating a heavy meal after visiting a Winery is a must ;) Today I visited with my family, it was Monday so lots of places are closed in Requena but luckily Meson Fortaleza was open and quiet busy! During the week they offer a menu for 10 euro. We ordered Morteruelo(local dish with liver) as an appetizer. The Gazpacho Manchego(local meat stew with flat bread) was delicious, and the chickpea stew was tasty with very tender chickpeas. The Lamb chops and chicken were good. The desert nothing special or maybe I was just too full to appreciate it ;) The restaurant has a medieval décor and friendly and efficient service. Good value for money.
