Comida abundante y sabrosa. Atención esmerada y sin prisas. Carnes suculentas.

My sister and I stayed at Casa Cayo for two nights and it was in every respect an amazing experience. We arrived in the late afternoon exhausted after a long drive and were immediately greeted by a friendly young staff member. After asking our names he summoned two other men who worked there and the three of them pretty much ran up the three flights of stairs to our room carrying our heavy luggage, smiled at us, and promptly left to let us unwind. Our room was very nice, with double-paned windows. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant downstairs twice, and each meal was unbelievably delicious. The waiter went out of his way to recommend activities for us and served us gluten free bread(gluten intolerant here),. On our last morning there the bartender made a phone call for us so we could try to reschedule a cave tour. Casa Cayo was a wonderful experience, and I hope to come back to Casa Cayo one day soon, for a longer stay and with my entire family!

Gayle and I were returning from Fuente De that included a ride up the gondola and a gorgeous hike around a small slice of the Picos de Europa. Our big regret was not completing the 4+ hour hike down, but in fairness we hadn’t packed enough water, snacks, and layers. If we ever come back, we’ll stay at the Parador and this area a little more justice. It was now 3PM and in Spain that means that it was Lunch time. We were now in Potes and one Tour book(Northern Spain Handbook by Footprint) recommended Casa Cayo. It was a fine choice. We were seated by the window and the views of the river and the nearby peaks were very pretty. The place very lively, cheerful, sunny, and a great place to hang out and soak up the local ambiance. We also had a great server who took very good care of us. We both enjoyed one of the local stews and shared over a bottle of nice wine. Flan and coffee(solo for me, con leche for Gayle) finished off a nice meal and a fun hiking portion of our day.
