Matilda Café Cantina

Amazing atmosphere and friendly service. They have a great fixed menu of sweet and savory. I had an omelette that was delicious and simple. Very reasonably priced. I’d highly recommend.

What a nice way to end a visit to the Reina Sofia Museum of Modern Art. This is a tiny, cute informal place with about 6 tables and seating for about 20 – 25 (not including the two small sofas around the used books and games collection. Run by two gents, one in the kitchen and an ultra-​friendly one in front, they offer a small selection of delicious starters, mains, and desserts on an unwritten price-​fixed menu that can change daily, and make you feel as if you’re eating in your friend’s dining room.

Do yourself a favor and stop in here for some breakfast. We had the Spanish omelette with a side salad and bread, and ordered a piece of one of there cakes, I think it was kiwi and apple. The food was delicious, the coffee was hot, and the atmosphere was relaxing.

This is great little café in Madrid. It’s off the beaten path which is where usually the best places are. Very unique décor vintage décor and great service. The guy was very friendly and did speak english if you need it. The café con leche was the best we had in Madrid and the food was delicious. We did come here twice during our stay in Madrid because we liked it so much. My husband ordered the toast with tomato paste and jamon and I ordered cheese instead of jamon and was very happy. Also the orange juice was fresh. And I mean fresh, probably squeezed right after we ordered it.

Cozy place. Friendly guy behind the counter. Delicious food. 1940s music playing. And I unexpectedly found a pair of wool elbow-​length dress gloves for € 2 — they have a carefully curated selection of vintage items. Amazing kick off to my first day in Spain!

Stopped in this morning and fell in love with this little café! I had a café con leche, my aunt had green tea. The tea was served loose with a tea pot and a strainer. It was not only delicious, but adorable! We then shared some breakfast. I ordered the tostada with tomato and olive oil. It comes with two slices of salami/​pork of some sort. It had two slices of bread, all the more perfect to share! She ordered the tortilla. It was amazing! Get there early before they run out, we got the last piece this morning. It is served with a small salad and a piece of bread. The salad balanced the tortilla so well. I highly suggest it! we also saw someone order the yogurt parfait and it looked great if you are looking for a more «low carb» breakfast! Stop in, it’s the perfect spot to spend a cold winter morning!

A very lovely and sweet place, the interior looks very well hand picket and neatly installed. You can read a book, buy a picture or other hand-​crafted things or just enjoy the delicious food and drinks.
We had a meal combo for lunch, with coffee and desert for 9 € which was a good deal. The owner was very and and playful with our two-​year old. We liked it a lot.

No puedes perderte la pasta con judías y pesto casero.
Si eres guiri no te pierdas la tortilla de patata: huevos camperos y aceite de oliva.

Solid breakfast spot. The food is great. Coffee is on point. Would definitely recommend if you’re in the area and need breakfast!

This little café was a perfect stop for my husband and I. We were exhausted. and this café was what we needed to recharge. Service was welcoming and pleasant. the ambiance was nice and comfortable. The food was simple yet delicious. Music playing was great. my favorite classics. All around wonderful. Worth a visit to Matilda Café in Madrid. It’s a walk away from Atorcha metro/​train station. Highly recommend and Would come again.

Very cute café on a side street off Paseo del Prado. I went in around 9 am, I was the only one that. The waiter was very attentive and didn’t mind that my Spanish was horrible. He recommended the olive cake which was amazing. The cappuccino was very good as well. The decorations are cute and it has a great atmosphere with couches and a mix of chairs. They also played great music (one song was even Christmas-​y)!

Awesome environs of casual and intimate is your thing. Feels like eating in someone’s living room having a party. Very social, comfy couches, great library of books available, decent Albariño options and amazing prices.
I went for house salad, warm ham with olive oil and potatoes and a glass of wine. Snacks really and pear chocolate cake to finish so I can recharge for the night. I’d say get here early though as they sell out of options by night’s end.

Nice and cozy little place to go for coffee, lunch or drinks and tapas. Super friendly service. The lentil and chorizo stew/​soup is delicious!

Ayer, aprovechando que nos habíamos tomado el día libre de nuestras esclavitudes asalariadas, salimos a dar una vuelta bajo el frío sol del invierno madrileño y la terminamos tomando un café en este sitio que ya habíamos fichado la última vez que estuvimos en el CaixaForum. El aspecto es el de un pequeño cuarto de estar con inspiraciones berlinesas (muebles arreglados y cada uno de su padre y de su madre), pero con una calidez ambiental muy evidente, probablemente debida a los tonos pastel de las paredes y, en general, al buen gusto en la decoración.
No hay sitio como para que se sienten grandes grupos, como mucho mesas de cuatro, así que es un lugar idóneo para ir con la pareja o con pocos amigos. Aunque ellos se publicitan como un lugar donde comer o tomar copas, os confieso que a mí el ambiente me inspira más un buen desayuno o merienda que un gin tonic con su ensalada moderna de pepino en el interior de la copa.
Otra cosa que quiero destacar son sus precios: para ser un sitio tan agradable y con encanto, el café es más barato que en el bar de barrio de toda la vida y encima está bueno; además viene acompañado con un trozo de bizcocho que está bastante bueno. Lo mejor es que te atienden con cercanía y con una sonrisa, a diferencia de otros locales cercanos donde te atienden con la distancia que da el intentar diferenciarse de lo imperante convirtiéndose en un clon.
Vamos, que por todas estas razones y algunas otras, es un sitio al que pienso volver a café o lo que se tercie, que no vamos sobrados de lugares agradables ni de gente maja.

Great location. Perfect for couples and friends. Delicious food, lovely host. Charming! If you can, sit at the table that is by the window and enjoy un jamón ibérico and cafecito. Lots of books and art for sell. Loved it

This was bar far the most delightful little café we found in Madrid (so far). Menu del dia is the waiter’s grandmother’s recipes and the service is super-​friendly. The décor is like somebody’s extended living room with tiny tables (no big groups) and mismatched chairs. Food was terrific– melon tomato gazpacho the surprising hit of the lunch.

Sentada en uno de sus sillones puedes contemplar un estupendo espacio con buena decoración, tomarte un café con soja estupendo y tener una buena charleta. La persona que nos atendió era muy maja, a mí me encantan los dueños que salen fuera del local y hablan con los vecinos y los colegas, porque confía en la persona de dentro.
Tienes cosas dulces y también saladas, platos del día para comer rico y a buen precio. Lo que me gustó es que puso una «tapita» de bizcocho que tenía pintaza para merendar. Eso son cosas que aprecias y agradeces, porque muchas veces cuando pides un café o un té no te suelen poner nada.
Tiene una cacharrería de decoración estupenda y los tonos del local son preciosos, al igual que los muebles y el resto de la decoración. Se nota que el bar lo tiene alguien que aprecia y le gusta tener un bar.
Otro de los sitios que me apunto del barrio para ir y repetir a menudo ;)

Un ambiente genial en este bar, excepto cuando hay partido que ni entro (No soporto el fútbol, pero a quien le guste ya sabe donde puede ir a verlo sin problemas)
Se nota que han puesto mucha ilusión en la decoración, con propuestas interesantes, como una estantería que me llamo la atención donde tienen algunos libros de arte colocados estrategicamente para que quede bonito, o el cuarto de baño, empapelado con hojas arrancadas de una novela antigua.
sus mesitas están bastante bien para pasar allí el rato tomando algo y charlando.

Bar & Cocktail, lo mismo para una caña a mediodía, para un café después de comer, unos vinos después del curro o un buen cocktail después de cenar (como dicen en su tarjeta de presentación, «desde el primer café hasta la última copa»).
Un sitio agradabilísimo, con una decoración en la línea de otros bares ‘cuquis’ de la zona. Una joyita dentro del barrio que esperemos no se ponga muy de moda, ya que ese precisamente es su encanto especial. Los días de partidos importantes, proyectan un pedazo de pantallón en una de las paredes (también pusieron la última gala de los Goya, and stuff like that).

El ambiente y la decoración es genial. Es un lugar idóneo para tomar algo tranquilamente. Las tapas son pequeñas joyas.
