Fancy smancy restaurant with a variety of paellas. We were very thankful that they took us in even though they were closing in 10 minutes.(They close around 12 midnight.) However, our late arrival did not compromise the attentive service. We had an apéritif/tapa type thingamajig(yeah I totally do the fine dining thing all the time, obviously) that was a pile of fish-mousse on a piece of bread. It tastes better than it sounds, trust me. We didn’t ask for it but they served it and charged us about 1.5 euro/each for it anyway. No biggies because I liked it. We also got a big side of bread but I refrained from eating it because I knew our dinner was about to get carbolicious. The paella came out and good lord it was huge for just 2 people. They served it to us on our plates so we didn’t have to dig in the pan for more ourselves. It was kinda salty and could have used more mariscos(seafood), but other than that, it was a good dining experience. The portion was huge so we took it to go and they wrapped it up in a nice to-go container. The dinner was about 45 euro(can’t recall the exact amount). When reading the menu keep in mind that the price may be per person, not per order. Pretty pricey, but for our last(and only) dinner out in Madrid, it was pleasant. And yes they also had free wifi. Watch out for those whom are also dining outside. They love to smoke even if they’re 2 feet away from you and your food. It is Europe, after all.

Buenisimo arroz en un sitio peculiar(el typical Madrid rancio — que tiene su encanto). Carillo pero de calidad. Hay que reservar.

We went here for our first night in Madrid and it did not disappoint. They are famous for their rice dishes(arroceria), so it is a must to try one of their many paella offerings. We went with mariscos, or mixed seafood, which is pretty standard paella. For the more bold they have other options like rabbit, escargot, and mushroom paella(yes that all comes in one). There are several more trendy spots around, but for impeccably cooked rice dishes, go here.
