I decided to go with my friends to the Malasaña area of Madrid to go bar hopping, as it was our first week in the city and we still hadn’t drank any alcohol! We headed to Malasaña without any idea of where to go or what to do, so we were just going to try different bars until we found one we liked. We stumbled upon Freeway quickly and decided to give it a try. The outside looked inviting enough. A few of us had rum and coke(€ 6) and a few other people had beer. I personally felt there was too much Coke and not enough rum, even though I told the bartender to make it strong. The atmosphere inside is super cool. We loved the style of the bar and the music as well. They only played English music throughout the whole time. I will probably be back because I liked the vibe of the place, but I hope next time they make my drink a bit stronger!

This place is a good option to have some beers or drinks with friends on a weekday after having dinner in the areas of Tribunal and Malasaña. That’s what I did last Monday with my friends after having some tapas at Tita Rivera’s restaurant. It was almost midnight and we didn’t want to go back home before having at least a beer or a drink together while we kept catching up. We were looking for a place where we could talk, so all the bars and pubs opened weren’t what we looked for. We finally ended up here. The experience was good, although its smell was kind of weird and we had our doubts about staying there. The prices are good and its ambience is pretty casual. We got a table, but we had to order at the bar. They don’t take orders at the tables, something that I don’t normally like about places like this one that’s why I can’t give this place more than 3 stars(apart from the smell). Overall, I had a good time and I enjoyed that night. Not sure if the reason was the company, which was irreplaceable, or the magic of being back in Madrid!

Situated on a corner in this funky part of town the Freeway has caught our attention… simply cause it looked so inviting with its wide open windows, pub style atmosphere and cool music. We sat at a small table(literally) «in the window» and were cooled down by the fresh late summer breeze. Perfect way to end a shopping day :) The lady behind the bar was super friendly and loved chit chatting with us, serving«frutos secos» with our ice cold beer. The pub is like a pub needs to be: dimmed light, a bit trashy but yet clean, good music and a funky vibe. Highly recommended!!!
