We ate dinner here (or maybe lunch for the Spaniards) on a Thursday evening after visiting some museums. We didn’t have to wait to be seated.
I recommend this place for lunch or dinner, but I recommend to sit outside to watch people walk the busy street.
We ordered the potato tapas, bread with cheese fondue, and omelette. It was all delicious and average priced! You get what you pay for: D

Food quality is below standard, drinks overpriced and staff unfriendly. Location and décor are nice, but this does not compensate the food or staff. Do not try the ceasar salad.

Despite the inviting and nicely decorated terrace, it’s an overpriced basic tapas /​coffee place. Some may call it tourist trap.
Prices are double to triple of what you would pay in a standard tapas bar /​coffee place. Quality of the drinks /​food is standard to basic. Of course you pay for the location close to Plaza del Sol, but this is just out of bounds.

The food was a little bland. The atmosphere was pleasant.

I LOVE this place.
Primero, ¡el edificio es bonito! Fuera hay una terraza agradable con sillas y mesas vintage, plantas colgantes y libros de varios colores en estanterías.
Dentro hay una barra con hermosa iluminación y botellas expuestas.
En total, comí allí tres veces y cada vez fue muy bien. Como almuerzo se puede comer paninis, bocadillos y tapas.
Los paninis son buenos, no bastante gruesos y bien sazonados. También tomé un trio de tapas que contenía un gazpacho, un trozo de pan con jamón ibérico y salsa de tomate y 2 mini hamburguesas con mostaza. ¡Todo era delicioso!
Para beber, hay una selección de cócteles, smoothies (deliciosos), cafés y refrescos.
Además, el personal de Café y Tapas es simpático y rápido.
¡Les aconsejo este café a todos!

I’m really surprised that Café y Tapas has such a low rating.
I LOVE this place.
First of all, the building is absolutely beautiful! Outside you have a cozy terrace with nice vintage chairs and tables, hanging plants and colored books on shelves. Inside you’ll find a nice bar with lovely lighting and bottles displayed behind the bar.
I’ve been there 3 times and each time was great! For lunch you can get paninis, sandwiches and tapas. The paninis are very nice, not too heavy on the stomach and perfectly seasoned. I also tasted a trio of tapas with a gazpacho, a piece of bread with tomato salsa and jamon ibérico and two mini burgers with mustard. They were all delicious!
To drink, there is a wide range of cocktails, smoothies (which are absolutely great!), coffee and soft drinks.
To make it even better the service is very friendly and fast.
I really recommend this place to everyone!

El servicio era bueno, pero la calidad de la comida daba mucho que desear.
Mis amigas se pidieron salmorejo y no lo comieron porque estaba MUY salado. Las croquetas con setas y queso azul no sabían a nada.
Lo único bueno eran las patatas bravas (que también estaban muy saladas) y el sándwich de salmón.

Appallingly rude service. Awful food that isn’t what it says on the menu. Avoid this tourist trap!!! It doesn’t even deserve one star!
