El miércoles (14 de Octubre) de 2015 estaba cerrado. No sé si de manera permanente…

Babia es un local muy, muy recomendable. En Barcelona muchos locales intentan ser «bohemios», por que cuadra mucho con el estilo de la ciudad, creativo e innovador… Este no pretender serlo, pero lo es gracias al entorno, el local y la gente que lo visita.
Buen ambiente, buena música, buenas tapas y de tanto en cuanto actuaciones musicales en directo.

Fantastic local bar. When I came in around 18:00 it was almost empty. Only a few locals and the very friendly bartender. I had some beer and some olives and sat listening to jazz and blues and rock and roll. I even helped settle a dispute over when the Doors had formed (thank you Wikipedia) around 20:00 I orders the tapas combinado, which was sliced off of the meat hanging at the end of the bar. Excellent. Then it started to fill up. Locals and touristas alike crowded in and I felt lucky to have a stool at the bar already. Rollo the bartender had been talking about his time in Texas and I was treated to some shots of Bourbon to celebrate my return home tomorrow.
I had tried to come in for lunch at noon and they were as closed as can be. Glad I was persistent, I would have missed this place if not for Unilocal.Best deal in town!

What a wonderful restaurant. The wait staff is so helpful, the wine selection is fantastic, and the food is phenomenal. Our waiter chose our meal and wine for us on my birthday and we were not disappointed! We came back a few times to have wine and Babia now has a special place in my heart. It has this authentic, homey vibe to it and everyone there seems to be having a great meal with even better company. I can’t wait to go back!

We were hanging out La Rambla in the evening and didn’t want to eat on that street given how touristy that st is. So we walked around the hood and tried to find somewhere less touristy. Thanks to Tripadvisor app, we found this place. Menu is simple and limited but was good. We tried the Sausage/​peppers/​onions on toast, spanish omelette on toast, grilled squid with salad and stuffed cheese hamburger. Everything was surprisingly good but funny thing is no bun on hamburger. It’s a good find if you want to get a way from the touristy crowd on La Rambla.
Oh cash only, we spent 33 euros (with 2 glasses of wines)

My husband and I were staying at the Regencia Colon, practically next door, so we stumbled upon Babia in our explorations. It’s a great little, divey bar. Lots of wonderful art all over the place. Our first night we sat down at the bar and the bartender was extremely nice. He served us up a couple of cervezas and completely excused our poor Spanglish. Our second night going there, the bartender remembered us and chatted us up. His name is Rollo and he’s very nice. He gave us some complimentary beers, cheese and a cd of his band.
The atmosphere is great here, especially if you’re looking for something nice in Barcelona near all the tourist stuff, but isn’t an over-​priced tourist trap.

A personal favourite. Stumbled across this place years ago with some friends, and am pleased to say hasn’t changed much in that time.
Its not much to look at and its smokey and small, but your guaranteed good quality bar snacks and wines. For somewhere thats right in the middle of a very touristy area, it successfully shuns becoming a tourist trap itself.
Go and check it out.

Fantastic little tapas bar somewhere in the backstreets of Barcelona’s gothic quarter. Smoky, busy and noisy and managing to maintain a local feel lost in most of the establishments in the area.
Search it out, grab a seat at the bar, some Iberico ham to nibble on and some cervezas to drink and enjoy.
