Get the avocado toast with poached egg, it’s excellent! Great atmosphere and food, would definitely go here again

It’s about a mile from the train station. I had chicken and waffles. They were deliciously topped with yogurt and marissa. Geoff had the burger which he enjoyed. We were there at opening, and we pretty had the place to ourselves. We were told it gets crazy later in the day.

Delicious food, kind wait staff, and fun environment. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised and grateful for the recommendation from the staff at the Admiral Hotel, else we would not have come here.

Tight and warm space with amazing food! I had a buck fizz(for people in the states«a mimosa») and got the chicken and waffle. Since I’m from Texas I rate them three ways; by waffle, by chicken, overall experience. Waffle was crispy and was overall good. Chicken was crispy, hot and flavored well. Experience was incredible, the Harrissa aioli gave it spiciness and the maple syrup and yogurt was a great way to bring it to a full bodied awesome flavor. Atmosphere was good, a lot of people knew how good it was so it was hard to get in and seated. BUT worth it!

I’m so happy I got to try this place as my last eats before running off the CPH to catch my flight! I am really surprised that many people gave this place 2 stars because the food was phenomenal. Honestly this is what good value, good eats really is. I was in Kobenhavn for 4 days and this was one of the better places I’ve had the pleasure of dining at. The staff is friendly, they’re open an at obnoxious hour in the morning when nothing else in the Nyhavn area really is … and they have great coffee. Furthermore, if you order a cappuccino, they put funny text on it. I loved mine because it said«You can sleep when your dead.» Yes it’s supposed to be «you’re» but I’m not going to fault them for that because that’s hilarious! Love love loveeeee. Highly recommended.

Came to this place for the brunch after reading some very positive reviews on Unilocal.Tasty food but nothing I would rave about or highly recommend to anyone. The décor is very modern and warm but the seats are terribly uncomfortable — basically like sitting on a cold piece of metal the entire time. And you’ll be sitting on the seats for quite a bit because the service is unbelievably slow. The table behind me sat unclean for about 20 mins before one of the staff finally wiped it down. Aside from being slow, their knowledge and enthusiasm for the menu wasn’t great but wasn’t bad either(our waitress knew what was on it but wasn’t excited about any of it). After our meal the dirty dishes continued to sit on our table for a while as well. TLDR: I wouldn’t come back here again because the food was ok not great and the service left a lot to be desired.

Fantastic place! Excellent for brunch, lunch and even a cozy glass of wine or cocktail in the evening. A bit of a hipster vibe, but I can only recommend! For brunch, my friends and I have ordered the eggs florentine, the waffle & chicken and a brioche with bacon, egg and cheese. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious. In the evenings, we’ve regularly had a glass of wine here as well. Cozy but still vibrant atmosphere and very friendly service.

Came to try the avocado toast and get one of their provocative coffees. I would recommend making a reservation and request to get a table and not sit in the window because its not very comfortable. Restaurant has hipster vibes and is a little too loud, but overall great experience. Avocado was more of a guacamole, but very good poached egg and bacon. The orange juice is delicious and their coffee is really good quality(great to find iced coffee in Europe!).

Sadly, I don’t get the hype of this place. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of Eggs Benedict and as far as I know, only this and Café Dyrehaven has it on the menu. Mine was decorated beautifully on a plate with pomegranate seeds that would look awesome on instagram. Only one thing is wrong, the taste is alright. Just that, alright. Nothing that blew my mind. Perhaps it was the hollandaise sauce that didn’t quite hit the spot, or that the fact that the poached egg’s yolk was way too hard, I felt like eating hard-boiled egg. When you’re asking over 90kr for a plate with one egg, you sort of want it to turn to be more than alright. The other food that we ordered, the avocado toast was ok, but it was hard to fail on that one, since you basically have to slather avocado on a rye bread and put(another fail hard boiled) poached egg on it. But why poached egg, really? Wouldn’t it be better with fried egg? Service wise, it was excellent. Got a table right away, waitress got us our menu and took our order very prompt and we didn’t have to wait too long for the food and we were really attended to, but what’s an eating place if you have awesome service but bad food?

This place is great for looks. Very cool atmosphere and pretty dishes. Food unfortunately was not as good as photos make it out to be. Ordered the Benedict, and the pouched egg it came with was still runny. The spinach was also very soggy with no flavor. Overall, the texture of the dish very weird and unappealing. My 3 other friends ordered the fried chicken and waffles, and ALL3 orders were very cold upon getting to the table. According to them, it lacked the savory flavor, crispness, and moisture that fried chicken and waffles deserve. Maybe we had high expectations from looking at Unilocal. However, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to expect good things from a nice restaurant. Especially one that is a little pricier. If the food was more simple and the flavor was solid, I would have rated this place higher.

Chicken and waffle! Sweet and soft waffles with crispy and moist buttermilk chicken. The sauces complements it nicely. It’s quite a heavy dish if you’re in for a treat!

The overall setting is very cute and nice. There seems to be a lot of people here. The servers are nice and attentive. However, I give this place two stars because the food is not good at all. I ordered the chicken and waffles. First, the waffle was cold. It is obviously not made fresh. It was cold and a little hard. Second, the chicken is very very dry. Overall the whole dish was dry. I basically had to drink water every time I took a bite. I couldn’t finish the dish. I also ordered their special passion fruit lemonade. At first it was too sweet for my liking but it was a good taste. I also put a little bit of still water to dilute it. Then, it was perfect. The food is expensive as well. Too overprice for what it’s worth.

There is no big sign so it’s not easy to find it but if you see many people sitting outside(not winter) on the same street as the café is, you probably found this place. Quite casual café but it has nice ambiance. Food was simple with good flavor and healthy-feeling. Cappuccino came out with batman logo on the foam. Service is good. Good place to get a snack, coffee or drink.

I went to Copenhagen for a week with my girlfriend, and the only restaurant we repeated was Union Kitchen. We went around lunchtime both times. She got the scrambled eggs with avocado both times, which were perfectly cooked. I got the chicken and waffles the first time(great) and chicken meatballs with gorgonzola pasta(also great). The ambience is hip but unpretentious, and the staff is very friendly. We’ll miss this place!

Union Kitchen, located in Nyhavn, is despite its’ fantastic location not jam-packed with tourists or priced accordingly. The place is chic and welcoming, and the service is relaxant — which matches the ambiance. I stopped by this place for a brunch after a rough night out. The food that is being served is exactly the kind of food I’m craving for when being hungover — so I was pleased. Many of the dishes are brunch classics, but some are served with a small twist — as for instance their eggs benedict with pomegranate seeds. I would recommend this place!

Best meal I had in Copenhagen. When you are near Nyhavn the most immediate options are the bars and tourist trap restaurants along the canal. Go half a block away and you find some really special food. You are not supposed to find chicken and waffles done as well or better than in the U.S.(The twist/improvement is Harissa with yogurt sauce which gives it creamy spicy salty sweet and crunchy). You are not supposed to find fresh ingredients and creative menus so close to cookie cutter tourist traps. They opened with an offer of «two lemonade specials today». We went with passion fruit and ended up getting a second pour. I was glad to have met Thomas, who was captaining the ship and helped make it a great experience from start to finish. I am back in Boston today after ten days in Scandinavia and this is the only food I will remember vividly.

Great place to get brunch with a group of friends. Conveniently located near the iconic nyhavn, you can walk around exploring the tourist center of Copenhagen. The attire is casual and service is fast. You can Call ahead for a reservation or wing it.

My review is for one dish in particular — a dish that I will crave many years after moving away from Copenhagen. Luckily I have plenty of time left to enjoy again and again. I can highly recommend the perfectly poached æg atop a lemony smash of creamy avocado on a slice of Danish seedy rugbrød. A few chili flakes and sea salt to you preference — it was perfection on a plate. With an expertly crafted and coyly adorned cappucino along side — my morgen was complete. Clean chic décor and good service means we’ll be back. In a town where there are a million good food options — that is saying something. My kids will be excited about the buttermilk waffles and bacon.

The Union Kitchen is perfect for Weekend brunch, they have a small but complete menu with burgers, eggs benedict, and your typical brunch foods, including bloody marys with bacon! The place is extremely loud, the acoustics there are very bad so it is not the best if you are tired from friday night and want a cozy brunch in my opinion. Of course as you can imagine there were a lot of people so the service got a little slow(not for our table, but we saw that a couple of tables were never even gettin gtheir menus). We both had the eggs benedict with truffle oil spinach which was delicious, but in my own opinion(and i do consider myself an eggs benedict connoseur), that the brioche that they used was too sweet for my liking which kind of threw off the entire meal which was otherwise delicious! It’s ok prices but if you would want a bloody mary for example it can double your bill-but since when is alcohol cheap in this city! ;) To end it all of I would recomend this place if you are hungry and want comfort food, they have a concept where they have a little bit of a pick and choose between meatballs(or veggieballs), where you choose a ball, the base(pasta, rice, beans etc.) and a sauce(pesto, tomato, curry etc,) which might be fun to try out next time! Just maybe don’t go when you can’t handle the hectic style there

Tried The Union Kitchen for breakfast/brunch this morning, and I have to say, it’s right up my alley! Very cool interior, nice blend of industrial chic and American diner style, with a bit of a dark twist. I like! We were a party of four and were seated in the front, next to the counter. Since it was a super cold and windy day, we sometimes got some chills from the door opening, but not much to do about that. I had the rugbrød with avocado and poached egg(sans coriander though, cause I just hate that stuff) and it was delicious. Around the table, we also had the scrambled eggs with bacon and the breakfast plates. The portion sizes for the single dishes were totally fine, but I think the breakfast plate could be a bit more generous. It’s a nice selection of things(egg, avocado, cheese, ham, yogurt and granola, etc.) but there’s very little of everything, so if you have a big appetite, this might not fully satisfy you. But the scrambled eggs were plenty, with a heap of bacon on the side, and the avocado and egg sandwich was also quite filling. Extra points for their delicious fresh juices! I had the carrot and orange juice, and if only I lived a bit closer to the place, I would just go and have that every single day! Delicious vitamin bomb. Their coffees are good, too. I haven’t tried their specialty, meat balls of all kinds, so that’s definitely on my to-do-list for the next weeks. As for now, I highly recommend this place for breakfast! PS: If you’re hungover, they make a special«anti hangover» burger that comes with a shot of Fernet Branca, for the brave among us.
