Wow. Seriously, if you are a wino and appreciate quality, it really doesn’t get any better than this, but be warned BOOKAHEAD. As the right people know about this place, it is always busy… even on a Monday and Tuesday night… I came here with my girlfriends, and you are immediately greeted with the scents of cheeses and meats, and the ambiance of being at a really great friend’s house party. Laughter and conversation fill the air, as well as a great interior décor with candles and old Danish pictures and wine peraphilalia. You are then sat and greeted by the waiter with a welcome drink, which I think is such a classy touch, and then he just chatted with us a bit, and brought over a bottle of white to start, and an assortment of 4 different reds. The tapas plate was HUGE and AMAZING with a great assortment of meats and cheeses, homemade tomato pesto, olives, etc. I think my favorite thing though is that you only PAYFORWHATYOUDRINK. if you drink half a bottle of white, and half a bottle of red, you only pay for that. It’s a genius concept I’ve seen at another restaurant in LA once, but I hear is very Italian. I wish more places did it this way. The whole atmosphere, ambiance, and everything of this place has made it my favorite winebar in Copenhagen for sure. I am determined to become a regular, come once a month, and have ”my table” because the service, food and wine really give you the full package of what a night out should be!

As a wedding present, a couple of friends of ours had made reservations at Lundgren VIP for wine tasting extravaganza. We finally managed to align our calendars and find a day for a great couples date. We’d made a 7.30pm booking and arrived a few minutes late only to find that a small crowd had already gathered outside the place waiting for it to open and to be seated. Within a few minutes after opening, the place was packed. I was really looking forward to the wine tasting and actually thought that it was mandatory at the restaurant, but we were only 2 groups(us and a group of 6 friends) who had made booking specifically for that. So we were all seated at a long table happily waiting for our 10 different wines — all Italian. I really — really! — liked the wines. They were carefully picked out by the owner, who waited on our table himself. I have to admit that he’s a curious person, quite blunt and odd, so I guess it’s a matter of taste whether you love or hate him. I found him utterly delightful and enjoyed his peculiar comments and stories about each wine, as — according to him — he apparently knew all the wine farmers personally and found every single wine to be the best one of the night! However, as the comments got more and more voluminous I have a strong suspicion that he carefully tasted each bottle before serving us ;-) We had amazing charcuterie and cheese to accompany the wines, and as I eat little meat they made sure to bring a larger portion of cheese just for me — huge amounts of food! If you’re a wine lover and haven’t visited the place yet — this is your cue.
