Wow. Just wow. And not an amazed blank eye stare wow. An what the hell did I just sit through kind of wow. So we were flying out, as is most often why we go to airports. Kastrup is an awesome airport, with lots of nice spots. However, it is also a crowded airport, and every place was crammed to the top. Every place except Caviar House + Prunier. My girlfriend and her son were in town, we were going to Dubai for a week, and figured we’d eat breakfast in the terminal. I had walked past this place at first, but since it was empty(not virtually empty. Actually empty. There wasn’t a single patron in there) and thus had room, we opted for it. Caviar is all fine and good, but with a six year old and for breakfast it wasn’t precisely what we were in the mood for. However, they sported impressive pictures of what appeared to be delicious sandwiches. And at only slightly more than reasonable prices. Alright not reasonable at all really, but I was ready to forgive it, because the place seemed to have quality wares. So we ordered three roastbeef sandwiches, and the waitress told us they didn’t get the fine bread until later in the day, if toast bread would be alright. She didn’t offer a reduction in price or anything, but never one to turn down the chance for an adventure, I accepted her offer of toast instead of actual bread. Why not? Well I was shown why not soon after. The sandwich was only a sandwich in the strictest technical terms. Two pieces of toast with, what appeared to be, mustard smeared halfway across one side, and three pieces of almost carpachio thin roast beef in between. No vegetables, no cheese, no nothing. Just a toast, mustard with a hint of roast beef. I was kind of appalled. And they charged top dollar for this. As I rinsed off the roast beef so the poor kid could eat it, while he munched on a dry piece of toast and drank some over priced water, I took another look around. Neighboring restaurants were full. Caviar House? Empty. We finished the meal and departed post haste. Thankfully Lagkagehuset was nearby to furnish us with some much needed sugary treats.

A great spot to stop off if you’ve got the time(and money) for a delightful meal. One of those seafood bars that seem so popular at a lot of European airports nowadays. I was particularly impressed by the quality and quantity of the food. I had the Salmon platter and there were 3 types of smoked salmon in respectable quantity plus freshly toasted bread. Beats grabbing a Danish hotdog or sandwich in one of the airport cafes! Service was excellent — everything done efficiently and attentively with a smile.
