A kaya butter toast set will set you back $ 4.80. I swopped my drink for the barley so I paid $ 5.80. Pretty pricey. The kaya toast(3 stars) was too soft. Soft boiled eggs(3 stars) and barley(3 stars) were decent.(Note to self: barley doesn’t quite do it when it comes to a kaya toast breakfast. The barley is also overpriced. Kopi/teh next time!) I guess at least there’s air conditioning and ample space…

I eat here 4⁄5 times a week. I’ve been to one other Ya Kun Toastwich in Sg, and that is the one at Bishan. Well, this stall is the better of the two, by a mile. There’s more space than most other YKT stalls you will find in Singapore. Unlike other stalls people don’t chope their seats here. The ladies at the counter are really sweet and you get your meal pretty fast. My favorites are the Cheesy French Toast and the French toast sets. I’ve also found the milo served at this stall to taste much better than everywhere else as they put enough condensed milk in it.

Just like Lexus offering you a little more than Toyota, Ya Kun Toastwich was designed to tap into your need for something more than kaya toast and your urge to cling to a familiar brand. This outlet at Fusionopolis will not disappoint. There are offerings such as Nasi Lemak, Mee Rebus, Mee Siam and Laksa. This seems to have fitted very nicely with the gastronomic zeitgeist of the diners that frequent Fusionopolis, judging by the scarcity of tables at breakfast, lunch and tea time. Also consider the fact that Ya Kun Toastwich has hung around longer and seems to not only be hanging in there but flourishing where it’s predecessors have failed in the same shop space. So, it’s not just all about location after all. My favorite offering here is the kaya butter crackers, maybe it’s just for me, but the butter is just a little chunkier here and the kaya just a little more generously slathered on… the benefits of a being a familiar face? I’m not so sure, maybe it’s just that I look so beat down that I look like I need some extra love. There’s free wifi at Fusionopolis. So this is a good place to hang out if you’re in the neighbourhood.
