Connected to neighboring Stranger’s Reunion: the coffee is great if you know what you’re doin! Try a magic, of course– it’s the best kind– but loaded with caffeine, not meant to unwind. A cozy atmosphere in the long, lil room– easy most days, but lunchtime’s a boom! The waffles are tasty, but’ll give you brain freeze! So try and take it easy, sugar slow down, please. The service is friendly, always water on the table. Just next to a bus stop makes travel more able. The downsides are high prices, no public wifi, and it’s SODANGCOLD I froze inside!

I was glad to find we were the first customers when we stepped in. The café was decorated with vintage, quirky items from the past bringing back a very nostalgic feeling. Every table was adorned with the same pretty clump of flower vase, water bottle, empty glasses and a placard. The waitress who handed us the menu informed us that for the course meals, the food will be cooked from ‘next-door’. It took a moment for us to realise that the two cafés are under the same management, ‘Stranger’s Reunion’. For a café named, ‘Waffle Slayer’, I would have thought they would have an impressive list of waffles in their menu. But it seems they went with the ‘less is more’ approach. My coke float was $ 6 and my plate of waffles if I could recall properly, $ 14. Merlin’s beard… Tsk! Tsk! The waffles in my opinion lacked the crisp one would expect. Rather, they were… spongy. But, yes. The vanilla bean ice-cream was delish; both on our waffles and my drink.

Waffle Slayer is located along a row of shophouses in the Spottiswoode Park area near SGH. I came here after dinner about 830pm, and had the banana waffle and the red velvet waffle. My banana waffle was delish — banana and strawberry with real vanilla ice cream with walnut crunchies. The waffle itself was fragrant and crispy, I felt that the red velvet waffle was so-so, and the waffle itself was a little cakey. Also, it didn’t come with anything cream cheese, so that was a bit of a let-down. Would I come back again? Yes, for the banana waffle. Prices here are café-priced, and that means about $ 30 for two waffles. Have fun here!
