Disappointing pizza. Too bad really because the place is in a good location and the place has nice décor also, but alas it’s just not good enough. Too bad really, so close to my apartment, and the staff there is usually quite nice. Went in a couple of times for a slice or two. The tomato sauce was off and the cheese was quite dry. Tried ordering take-out with a half-size 18 inch pizza. The thing was super oily(greasy?) that the cardboard was drenched in it. The size of the slices is somewhat smaller than what one would hope for from a NY style pizza place. With two slices with toppings and the cheapest drink, your casual pizza doesn’t feel like casually priced. There are a couple of better places for pizza just 5 minutes down the road either side. Some are even open later.

I had very high hopes for this pizza place. I was trying to find something close to real NY pizza, and although the size was massive, the actual pizza and the way it was made leaves a lot to be desired. I think at $ 50 for a pie, they should put in a bit more effort than just taking out a pre-cooked, pre-cheesed pie, slapping some toppings on, and re-heating it in the oven! While eating I saw them making a fresh one, which would have been nice — not sure whether you can call and request that they make a fresh pizza for you, but that should be standard! I doubt I will be going back unless they change to making pizzas instead of reheating them.

Pizza here is mediocre at best. It shouldn’t be advertising itself as a New York pizza place because the pizza is really not up to that standard. The outside décor is pretty nice and inviting, but inside its a different story. The whole place is weird and white in a doctors office kind of way and the walls are covered in cringe-worthy“fuggedaboutit” posters. When the place first opened it looked promising but it was extremely underwhelming after I tried it out.

An expensive, but decent place to get pizza.(I go to the one at Bugis Junction.) I’ve been to New York, and New York slices are notoriously huge. Tony’s Pizza slices are not as big as the classic New York slices, and so you need 2 to fill you up.(Maybe a petite Asian woman would be satisfied with 1, but even I need 2.) With a cheese slice running you $ 5, and other slices at $ 7, that’s $ 14. No free water, so add on a drink($ 3 for a small cup of soda, $ 5 if you want to refills), and you’re talking $ 18-$ 20 for 2 slices of pizza and a drink. That’s pretty pricey for a casual place, which is why I don’t come here so often. They offer discounts to students. The pizza is good and solid. Not enough tomato sauce, but that’s typical of pizzas in Singapore. Cornmeal on a the crust that’s on the thinner slide. They reheat the pizzas so the crust is crispy and not as foldable as NY pizza. It doesn’t taste greasy which is an advantage over the fast-chain restaurants. Their meatballs are pretty good, and their meatball sandwich and meatball spaghetti taste good and are good for the price you have to pay.

I have to say I enjoyed the pizza, probably the closest taste compared a small local joint back home. Called ahead and it was on time, friendly staff. A short walk home good pizza, cold beer and tv.

They have one of the best NY pizzas I’ve had. We ordered the Half Cheese Pizza and Mild Buffalo Wings. Both tasted good. I love the wings in particular. Ambiance is nice! Not as noisy even though it is beside the street corner. Value for money is good. Overall, I would go back to this place.

The pizza is just fine but nothing special. We got the cheese, pepperoni and veggie. The pizzas are NYC style so the slices are huge. I agree with other reviewers that the pizzas are not cooked enough which is bit odd and, although NYC pizza tends to have sparse toppings, the toppings could use a heavier hand. The wings are better than the pizza and are pretty good. When they say hot wings, they mean it — they are really hot, like sweating, hiccuping hot. Overall, good enough pizza and great for parties as the large pizza can easily fill up 4 – 6 people.

Closest to NY pizza I’ve found in Singapore. It is OK quality. What’s wrong?(Hoping they are listening) 1) not cooked hot enough. Results in soft crust and barely melted cheese, as well as uncooked toppings. 2) pepperoni is not NY pepperoni 3) cashier missed part of our order 4) ceiling fans were going so high that anything loose on table was blown away.

Hey! Sweet. Just what I like to find as a business traveller. Another place here that closes earlier than what’s online or on their door. What’s that you say? You close at 10:30? But what you really mean to say is you stop doing anything around 9:30 besides closing up early, folding boxes and sending away customers. I hope you enjoy folding boxes since you probably won’t be doing much business if you keep it up and will have to resort to getting a delivery job at Dominos.

Our favorite pizza source in SIngapore. We order from Tony’s whenever we’re craving American-style pizza — which is about once a month. Also great for parties. It’s consistently good quality pizza that hits the spot. The owner, not named Tony, is from the states.

Update as of May 2014 We called 15 mins before picking it up, and boy, were we disappointed. The tomato paste tasted different, the pepperoni was a tad sour, and I was disappointed in general. My biggest peeve was my previous pizza about two months ago had fresh mushroom on it, the pizza I got had CANNED mushroom on it. I think that is a travesty, especially for the price of the pizzas here. Would I come back again? Not even with a 50% discount. Save your money and eat an egg prata from Spize next door with ketchup. It won’t taste as horrid as a Tony’s Pizza. Previously, their awesome strawberry lemonade was made with real strawberry, but the one I got was too sweet, and tasted of strawberry syrup. I don’t know why Tony’s degenerated so quickly, but that’s one pizza place that is seriously subpar.

I am from Brooklyn and I really miss pizza. I was excited to see this place and made a point of going to visit and giving it a try. Good pizza is very hard to find in Asia and I don’t know why — its really easy to make. I have to say I was disappointed in what I got. The crust tasted like frozen bread dough and it was just not right. I have never tasted this kind of crust outside of frozen pizzas from the supermarket or pizza hut-style places. I really wish they would take the time to make proper pizza dough but this is Asia and its all down to cutting corners and costs.

One of the best pizzas I’ve had in my life. Meat lovers: Crust has good spring and crunch, not floppy despite that. Cheese is full-bodied and generously sprinkled. Ham is premium. Salami and pepperoni are great too. Friend kept going«oh my!» Hawaiian: Crust was floppier, making it harder to eat. The toppings don’t showcase the pizza as well as Meat lovers. Lemonade: Great, could taste the lemon(slightly bitter aftertaste). The buffalo wings are the spiciest I’ve ever had though, even on mild(admittedly I’ve only ever gone up to the medium rung of spiciness). I couldn’t taste anything under the chili. Maybe there could be a new tier called«Milder». The blue cheese dip was not watered down though.

It’s decent pizza, I’d give it 3.5 stars, but it takes more than ovens from the Bowery to be New York style pizza. I’d say it’s more akin to Papa John’s, which is great too so that’s not a knock, Tony’s is just a thicker, dryer(i.e. not foldable without the crust cracking and not at all greasy…) slice of pizza than what has come to be considered New York style pizza. Thankfully pizza is no longer tough to come by in Singapore, but by the slice still is, so Tony’s is a welcome addition.

After a few days being away from the states, you sort of miss some of the fast food restaurants that are widely available on almost every other block in NYC. Since we were in the mood for pizza and the nearest Papa John’s is about a 20 hour flight back to Queens, we’ve decided to get a pie from Tony’s Pizza. This country is not known for pizza(I hope I’m politically correct), so my expectations were not very high. Not wanting to pre-judge, I noticed the guy tossing the dough and preparing the pizza was not Asian(trying my best to be politically correct). Perhaps he’s Tony and the pizza’s authentic. The Hawaiian pie we ordered did took longer than expected but the wait would have been just as long if we were back home. The pizza turned out to be pretty good and was worth the wait. The service(counter) was very nice. I guess they knew we’re visitors from the states because of our knowledge of the restaurant NYC themed décor. Should I ever return to the area again, I’ll definitely stop by for another slice and perhaps try the Buffalo wings.

Stopped by during their soft opening and was quite happy with the result. I’ve complained about not having enough pizza-by-the-slice places in Singers, so I’m happy that Tony’s has stepped up to the plate to fill in that demand. The best part is that it’s on the way home from work so it’s a convenient stop for me on the bus! My favorite part of this place is the décor. They have subway signs that decorate the columns outside, and they seriously bring me back to when I lived in the city. Besides the typical Times Square signs, they had the stop for New York University(my alma mater) and the R train to Bay Ridge(as much as I hate that train, and yes, I did give it a one star review on Unilocal,I used to take it on the weekends to visit my friends who lived on 85th Street.) As for the pizza itself, it’s not bad. When I think of pizza by the slice, I don’t expect the best pizza ever, just something quick and filling that’ll get you through lunch or those late weeknights when you overdid it at happy hour, kept drinking through midnight, and find yourself drunk at 2AM with work waiting for you at 8AM. It’s typical New York style– thin, cheesy, huge slices. Of course, the prices still make me cry a little inside(I believe I spent about $ 14 for 2 slices… 1 cheese and one 1 meat lovers) but you gotta do what you gotta do. My only complaint is that although they try to go for the typical standing room only tables in the middle, the concept doesn’t work for the space and it just gets in the way of things. I tried enjoying my pizzas while standing to complete my «New York experience», but instead I kept having to move every time a server walked by to deliver pizzas to the tables with chairs.

I have more than my fair share of New York style pizza having lived there for several years and I have been on the hunt for good pizza in Singapore, to no avail. Don’t get me wrong there is some good pizza here, but never the perfect slice which must have a crispy chewy crust, fresh tomato sauce seasoned just right and good quality cheese. Putting aside the service level, the actual pizza these guys are pumping out is the best in Singapore for my taste. It is the closest pizza I have had to New York style pizza full stop. I’ve had there cheese slice and since then have ordered a 18 inch pizza for pick up. Very happy with the product and that’s 99% of what I’m looking for in a fast food pizza joint not white glove service.

After reading the first two bad reviews, I thought it might be worth checking Tony’s Pizza today out of curiosity having had my own bad experiences with many other restaurants. Well as Vinny’s photo in his review shows, the Hero sandwiches are still unavailable. I get to talk with one of the staff who reveals to me that they are only serving pizza at this time because they have so many orders of pizza that the time spent for a SINGLE sandwich is not as profitable for them as pizza. I told them about the two bad reviews in Unilocal about why open up if they are not yet ready? She further revealed to me that it was a sudden decision to open up because rent started kicking in. Furthermore, they cannot get locals to hire(apparently they prefer to work in offices… she said) so management is cannibalizing staff from their other restaurants(Ku De Ta and Catalonia)… Anyhoo. my niece and I ordered a slice each and potato wedges with lemonade and iced tea. Must say that the service was so-so, the pizza was very good, the potato wedges quite good, and the drinks were good. Cost me $ 7 a slice. Those with larger appetites can go for a half or a whole pizza(they only have 18″ pizzas). The place was clean, if not for the staff I spoke with(a very friendly Filipino girl) all other staff were seemingly bored and just waiting to run the clock out. All in all, pretty good, but not outstanding. They sure have serious work to improve the staff as it could definitely leave good pizza with a bad taste after the novelty of a new restaurant wears off…

If first impressions are that important and can make or break an establishment, why, oh why, open if you’re not ready?! Walked in and it looked promising enough; well staffed, a number of diners, fresh décor. –Used tissue on the floor, hmm. With that much staff, someone should’ve picked it up immediately. –Need to get my own menu… –Now we have a problem. They’ve opened for 3 days, and the menu has markers blacking out all the items unavailable, no Sicilian style pizza, no hero sandwiches, no garlic bread. It is not very appealing looking at a menu with almost half the items blacked out. We can have basically an 18″ cheese pizza then add ingredients. Fine, we can give it a shot. Go to order the pizza and add a few ingredients. I’m shocked when the server says it will take 45min to an hour! If I have less ingredients? Still 45min to an hour. I am then incredulously stunned when he then says, «we’re making all the ingredients fresh.» ?!? We proceed to take our stroll in the neighborhood a bit further and have Chinese a few doors over. The noodles arrive 5 minutes after we order. I will update this review after they go through their growing pains and I actually taste the pizza. Hopefully management regroups and works out the kinks. Why open when you’re not ready???
