This place is always busy… but I like the outside, road-side tables to watch the world go by. Standard service, a little slow, but only because of the sheer volume of people here. The kopi seems to be hotter than usual here for some reason? strange, but it seemed like the case. Food is pretty ok, but nothing to shout home about. Standard Toast Box fare in a great location.

I’m just in love with their kopi. and the way they pour it omg. So high and far — how do they not drip; ;. I’ve ordered the Mee Siam from here and it’s quite good. This location isn’t really air conditioned though. There’s a couple fans in the back.

Good place to have nice light food along with a variety of basic local Singaporean drinks such as homemade Barley. Try the soupy noodles with luncheon meat and the curry chicken with rice, both are good enough.

Ordered my very first laksa here! Great service, very clean, and decent food. I love the environment of this little place! The reason I stopped to eat here was because I was first attracted by the look of this small shop and second, of all the people I saw standing in line and inside the building.(«Hmm this place must be a hit.») The coffee seemed to be a great hit. Almost every table I saw had ordered some version of tea or coffee. I love the environment of this little place! It’s white and brightly lit. Very inviting and pristine look. Food is also good. Unfortunately they ran out of the«Milo» drink when I wanted to order one but the laksa was delicious. Only $ 6.10SGD. The prices of the other menu items were fairly priced as well! The only downside is that like most other places in Singapore, they do not accept credit cards, Cash only. As for the laksa, it had some very interesting jelly-like noodles — they looked like clear tadpoles — but tasted very good with the soup. The soup had the perfect balance of spicy-ness and creaminess. Good serving size. I was so full just from eating the one bowl. I definitely plan on coming back next time I’m in Singapore. Would recommend coming here!

Toast Box had only one café when when I lived in Singapore half a decade ago, so it’s pretty crazy to come across the number of outlets populating the city nowadays– it seems easier to find a Toast Box than Ya Kun! Over the course of our stay, we checked out Toast Box twice and Ya Kun once to get our kaya toast fix. I still can’t decide which I prefer, though I think Ya Kun’s kaya is a little smoother and less sweet. That said, both had way too much unmelted butter for me– I prefer my kaya toast without. The other items in the breakfast set are standard– half boiled eggs(though slightly annoying that you have to crack them yourself!), teh tarik or kopi. All pretty filling and tasty. On one visit we tried the thick toast with peanut butter and another toast with pork floss, both of which turned out to be significantly less exciting than they sounded. One bright spot was the laksa– spicy with a good coconut flavor and rat tail noodles(? My family calls them lo choo ban).
