The other locations of The Soup Spoon might be fine, but this one is awful. I ordered a sandwich here, and I asked for a substitution on the bread. They said it would be an additional charge for that, which I happily paid. After a long wait, during which several waitresses approached us with the wrong orders, I was finally presented with my sandwich. It seemed, however, that they forgot the substitution that I had asked for. I kindly asked them to please bring out the sandwich that I had ordered and paid extra for. The waitress came back with the same sandwich at least three times, with nothing to say but«This is not what you ordered?» I showed her the receipt, and she went to talk to her manager, then came back saying«Sorry, this extra charge is because the sandwich you ordered was a specialty item, not because of a substitution» even though the two people I spoke to while ordering clearly stated that the charge was for the substitution. Seriously, you want to enjoy the food you eat, and it’s hard to do that when the people serving you lie and cheat directly to your face. DON’T waste your time here. Bugis has plenty of other options!

I was once skeptical, thinking that soup is not enough to have for a meal. I mean look, I am an Asian and brought up in a Chinese family where RICE is a staple. My mum would surely nag at me if I just drink the double-boiled soup and skip the rice. But Soup Spoon managed to burst this myth! For one, I love Soup Spoon because they really do their thing well. The cream soups are smooth rich and creamy; the Asian broths are tasty and flavorful; the tomato-based soups are not too sour, and all in all, very generous in their ingredients as well! To be honest, a regular bowl is enough to last me through the afternoon. But if you are really feeling very hungry on a particular day, you can have a large bowl or complete the meal with a half sandwich/salad(which I think is equally delectable!). Oh, and do not forget to accumulate some points on the Soup Spoon card. If you do not have one, just request it upon payment and you can get it for free!

I’m a diehard fan of The Soup Spoon because I love how gourmet soups keep me full for hours. The menu is the same in each outlet but so far I’ve never had problems finding a seat at this branch. My favourites are pumpkin for when I’m not so hungry and the Simon & Garfunkel when I’m starving. The latter is an amazing bust of flavours with succulent meat and perfectly cooked mushrooms. I usually take a regular bowl together with a half salad as a meal and sometimes have trouble finishing it. They have a loyalty card that never leaves my purse — there’s nothing like your favourite food joint rewarding you with free stuff!

I have been a biggggg fan of the Soup Spoon since my secondary school days. Fast forward to nearly 10 years later, I’m still a fan of Soup Spoon. First thought when people go to Soup Spoon will be. «Ah? Pay so much for soup for what?» Then when the soup is served. it’s actually a heck lot of ingredients(Clam Chowder, Tokyo Chicken Stew. etc) I have tried nearly everything on their menu and I can tell you, everything(other than the minestrone soup) fills you up like any other main course. Want something super filling? Then opt for their clam chowder or mushroom soup. Something filling but not diary based? Opt for their Tokyo Chicken Stew or their pumpkin soup. Their wraps and sandwiches can be ordered as a set with their stew and it comes with a huge glass of their home made lemon tea. Don’t forget to collect points for your souperholic card as well. You’ll never know when you will run out of cash and need the points from your card to get a free meal!(Yes, I do use my points to get a bowl of soup for free when I run out of money. haha)

After some shopping spree at Sim Lim, Bugis Village, or both, you don’t have to look further when looking for a bite to eat. At Bugis Junction, there’s this joint called«The Soup Spoon». They provide meals light enough to let you continue with your shopping spree, but heavy enough to provide you the energy you need throughout the day. Coming from a canvassing trip from Sim Lim, my friend and I opted for a healthy lunch. I got the Pumpkin almond soup and graden fresh salad. The soup was well blended– creamy, with a texture of pumpkin, pepper, and topped with roasted almonds. The garden salad with a side of vinigrette was an epitome of freshness. Very vibrant, every piece is crisp and very appetizing. And cap it off with a drink of your choice. An average of $ 10 per person is enough to keep me coming back. The place has its vibrant orange color that promoted the desire to eat at this cozy place, and modern and simple seating all of which are very comfortable. Experiencing this place definitely inspired me to eat a bit more healthy-may it be morning, noon, and night.
