The Rail mall is a nice, small and convenient place for people in local. It has the Cold Storage grocery store and some shoppes that we did not get to see since we got here for groceries.

I have to say that I might be a little biased with this review because it has so many memories for me — used to go to Nursery at the church next door, had many first dates in Epicurious and hangouts with friends in the Coffee Bean, used to walk here all the time with mum to get Subway or some gourmet cheeses(they have a pretty good pre-packed selection), and their organic store(Sunny Choice) which serves a mean set lunch and is brimming with alternative food choices… yum!

This place brings back memories of my youth and when I first bought my first motorcycle. This was the go to place for supper for a small group of us who had just bought our first bikes. Parking here is free and easy for those who ride bikes so park right infront of the store, grab a seat and grab a bite. The main offering of food includes kaya toast and even prata, I think it is called Ah Mei Café. More of a mall catered to those living around hillview and dairy farm road area, this is a great area to spend quiet evenings! If you’re driving a car, watch for the steep descent as you exit the car park or you might just wreck your bumper!

I’m a sucker for ground level stores. Singapore has too many malls, too many high rise buildings and I try to don’t enjoy spending time in them at all. That’s why I enjoy having my meets at Holland Village and if I happen to be nearer to Rail mall. well, at rail mall. There’s honestly not very much to offer in terms of variety(it’s not a very long stretch) but it’s got a couple of things I tend to need, groceries(cold storage), a coffee bean, a laser flair(dvd store), a wine place, a blooies(western food and beer), a cedele and a good italian restaurant. I really like that i don’t have to enter a mall to get stuff, so that’s why I like this place.

The Rail Mall may not hold as much weight in our history books as the Tanjong Pagar Railway Station, but it’s the closest it can get. The railway tracks are gone, but at least the railway bridge and rustic, tranquil atmosphere remain. I like the Ah Mei CAfe here. It feels so cosy and old school. Visitors can also check out a Cool Haven, a lifestyle store that sells ethnic furniture. They stock up on cute door-stoppers shaped like animals, among other interesting items. Beauty junkies can arrange for a facial, manicure or other beauty services at BodyTalk Wellness Spa. There are even a couple of organic food stores-cum-cafes. This is a nice place to have brunch and to chill. You might expect crazy prices here, since The Rail Mall is located along prime area, Upper Bukit Timah, but hey, you won’t find anything to grumble about. What the stores charge are well within reach.
