Wafted in on a lark — it’s been a while and I couldn’t quite recall exactly why I haven’t eaten here for a while. Service is decidedly timely and attentive, despite being seated behind a pillar. Staff circulate well through the restaurant, even the maitre’d waits tables without so much as a frown. Ambience is decent, quiet enough for a chat, but conversely quiet enough for you to eavesdrop on surrounding conversations. Music selection is predictable top 40s ear candy, with the occasional surprise — Biffy Clyro’s «Black Chandelier» being one of them. Hipster box, checked. Food is also quite decent. Started with a little beef and pork pie, which appeared to be minced pork and beef on a premade pastry shell. Still, tasty enough not to be a problem. Main was a Carbonara — which, if you’ve read some of my other reviews, I’m unflinchingly critical about. Menu description was positive… «smoky bacon, ow promo cheese, spaghetti, pepper». No sign of that blasted cream anywhere! Finally, a proper bloody carbonara, I thought. Alas, twas not to be. The pasta came drenched in cream. You’d think that the restaurant would deign to mention the one ingredient that so dominates the dish as to render the pasta a mere afterthought. So creamy, and so wrong. I ploughed grouchily through my dish, wondering why I put myself through endless disappointment by sampling these subpar carbonaras. Still, it was decently executed, if somewhat overenthusiastically creamy. A fine restaurant, if a touch pricey. And tasty enough food — though I’ve yet to sample their burgers and meats, which is what they’re really about. But please, stay clear of the creamy carbonara if you love the truly authentic stuff.

The food was excellent, service was absolutely terrible. The waiter(s) never once came back to check on us to refill drinks. Eventually I pulled out my own bottle of water from my bag. I also attempted to make a substitution for my chips and was met with a flat«no substitutions are allowed». I was happy to pay separately for the sweet potato fries and did, but I thought his response was odd. Lamb chops, sirloin, and salmon were all excellent.

Tried the black n’ blue burger, the blue cheese is addictive and the beef patty melts in the mouth. Cocktails were pretty unique and adventurous. Definitely worth trying and coming back, service crew is excellent and polite.

Good meats, many types of beer(yay!!) and great, friendly service. A great casual place for burgers, steak, beers… music was good too. And loud — just how the young people like it! Ha. I don’t know why other reviewers think this place is pricey. I mean, have you ever been a decent steak/burger place? It’s not really cheap. If a place serves you really cheap steak… um, you should be wary. :P Anyway, I thought the prices were entirely reasonable. You can have a 200g grass-fed NZ sirloin for $ 27. I shared the mixed grill platter with a friend. You get: 2 pork sausages, 2 lamb sausages, 2 lamb cutlets, a tenderloin steak and 2 grilled tomatoes. Easy to share, and all the meats were perfectly done. While it was a suitable portion for us, I have to say that it would probably work best if one or both people sharing were not particularly big eaters. Then again, if you are a big eater, you really shouldn’t be sharing anything… An unexpected highlight — they bring around a little trio of mustard, onion jam and beetroot jam, all of which were DELICIOUS!

Went along here with my partner for dinner while on holiday in Singapore just recently after stumbling along a seemingly never ending list of food we want to try while looking around vivo city. As with almost any venue in Singapore the staff are just fantastic. Full of gratitude and appreciation for receiving your custom. We were promptly seated and found the room to be very comfortable and pleasing to eat in, plenty of staff and not too many customers to make it feel crowded. I have been trying to order a new beer each time we eat somewhere and found a New Zealand cloudy ale, which was fantastic!(I’ve since gone back for more). Accompanied with that I had a delicious burger from their wide range with my partner having the pumpkin soup because she wasn’t feeling too hungry. Everything was fantastic. The only reason I haven’t rated this a 5 star is because on the second occasion I visited they had run out of a few items from the menu before we ordered at a pretty early point in the morning. I don’t think items should be listed on a menu if they can’t be kept in stock. Definitely worth giving this place a try for a well priced and enjoyable meal in Singapore.

Smokers can sit outside and enjoy a view of Sentosa and the water. Non-smokers sitting outside don’t get as good a view. The music was loud, we requested to turn it down. One wait staff wouldn’t, but after asking another person they turned it down. A little strange. We had a steak and a black & blue burger. The burger was juicy and greasy and delicious — the«blue» is blue cheese and I love blue cheese on my burgers. It also came with tater tots instead of fries — reminds me of Americana growing up. Bonus points for tater tots — everyone is busy with truffle fries, but this restaurant gives us something simple, different, and well-prepared. The steak was OK. Nothing special. We would definitely come back for the burger, but it’s pricey — $ 22++. Like everyone has said in other reviews, this place is a little pricey(hence the 3 stars). Good bar food, and I’d go back, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

The service was excellent. The staff members are very professional and well trained, unlike most places in Singapore. This place is a bit on the pricier side for meals and drinks. The food was good, but not remarkable. I tried the sweet potato fries and BBQ pork sandwich. The sandwich was not pulled pork like you might expect for the name, but instead thicker ham-like strips of meat. It was decent, but certainly could use some more sauce. For the sauce that was there, the mixture of Dijon mustard and the BBQ added a nice flavor to the sandwich. The sweet potato fries were tasty, of course. The dining environment is quite nice. They use smoother listening music, as compared to the blaring rock or club music that lots of places seem to prefer. The place is on the cleaner and quieter side, which just makes for a nice ambiance. Although it is pricey, the comfort and service attract me to come back for another visit in the future.

This is a relatively new restaurant in Vivo and gave it a try with a colleague for dinner and drinks. I had the Sirloin steak and my colleague had the Salmon. Both are not bad at all but giving it three stars because they don’t include a side dish with the mains and its a bit pricey for what it is. Will be some time before I come back.

Visited the Chop House just before the lunch crowd on a Saturday. Their service was excellent from the beginning to the end. Each waiter/waitress is in charge of several nearby tables. This is exactly how restaurant service should be done. When you have a request, you can expect to find someone who is familiar with your order without having to flag down a passing by server. They also have fun selection of music. No doubt their food is pricey. This can be expected for all the harbour view restaurants in this mall. I ordered their quesadilla from their appetizer menu. It is a full size quesadilla that can serve as a complete meal. The filing is a unique blend of minced chicken and yellow peppers with just the right amount of spiciness. I highly recommend their sweet potato fries to share too! I definitely recommend this place if you couldn’t fit in the crowded Jamie Oliver next door or just looking for a nice and relaxing meal by the harbour.

The Chop House is good, though a little pricey($$$). It’s an American eatery serving steaks, ribs, burgers, etc. There’s a full bar. Is this place new? It was very clean. Last Sunday, my friend and I stopped in for a quick lunch. We each had a BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger(served with tater tots) and a Coke Zero and the total was $ 70+. The service was attentive and prompt, the large burgers were cooked to order, and were delicious. The tater tots were crispy. Even for the hefty price, the food exceeded my expectations. I have added it to the short list of good restaurants at Vivo City. The Good: Burgers were really excellent — one of the best I’ve had in Singapore. The Bad: Pricey(although we did order the most expensive burger on the menu). The small metal chairs are uncomfortable. Whoever selected the furniture did a good job on the tables, but the uncomfortable chairs(and bar stools) are a big miss.(I did enjoy the diagram chalk drawings of the mixed drinks over the bar) The Verdict: If you’re in Vivo City looking for casual western food, bypass nearby Jamie Oliver’s(Not so good) and Poulet(Really not so good!) and give The Chop House a try. It definitely warrants a second visit and we will be returning soon.

After hearing much about this place from colleagues(I worked at epicure magazine) who raved about this place, I finally made a trip down to try the food here. Service was tip top and sadly, I noticed that a couple of potential customers would browse at the Chop House’s menu before deciding they would rather try the more famous Jamie Oliver’s down the row. A pity though as the burgers were well done. I had the Blue Cheese Melt burger and my partner had the Pork Burger(apologies as I couldn’t remember the exact name). The meat was juicy, tender and full of the rich-goodness of beef. The pork burger was also delicious; with the meat being very tender — I tried some of it. Our side of fries were also excellent, fried till almost the same texture as Long John Silver’s fries. Enough said, it’s better if you experience their food first hand rather then just reading all about it!
