As opposed to more famous hawkers around SG, Clementi is lesser known for hawker fare but Thaksin Beef Noodles is a gem hidden within this suburban area. Quite a quirky name for a food stall and probably works well for marketing purposes, the stall also dishes out a number of Thai food which I should look to try someday. In a bowl of beef noodles, you get kway teow, generous pieces of beef with tendon, beef slices parsley all within a rich broth. You can get it in 4 sizes: «Standard»($ 3.50), «Value»($ 4), «Supreme»($ 5) and«Super»($ 6). The broth is really herbal and deep that can only come with boiling their soup for ages. The winner for this dish is having a bite of the soft rice noodles with tender beef slices and fragrant parsley. Very comforting dish you’ll want to have on a rainy day.

What’s with the name of the stall? Who cares? There’s Good spicy thai style beef noodles in Clementi! I have to admit, I think the Clementi central area doesn’t have enough great hawker food. But there are some that my fussy taste buds eat regularly. Then again, I lived there for 20 years… I generally find that this coffee shop is too crowded and hot most of the time so I always ordered ‘take away’. This ‘thai– styled’ beef noodle dish is best eaten with lots of chilli. They offer a few different sauces and powdered chilli flakes. Add them in the amount you like, it’s spicy but good. I like the innards mixed up with beef brisket so feel free to try that!
