I have not had the chwee kueh at Bedok so this review is based on the chwee kueh in general. Great texture and lots of flavor! The amount of topping you get is just the right amount although you can’t help wanting more because it is so good. The key to a good chwee kueh is the crunch in the topping and the slight salty flavor of the topping to go with the mildly sweetness of the kueh itself. They get it just right.
My only complain is that the aunty don’t do separate packing of the chilli if you are taking it to go (understandable). But you can always eat there or bring your own multi-​compartment Tupperware. Well of course if you like to mix up your toppings and chilli, then come and enjoy!

My favourite chwee kueh of all time is the Clementi branch of Bedok Chwee Kueh. I don’t live anywhere near Bedok so I’ve only tried the Bedok original once, and it’s just as good (or should I say the Clementi branch is just as good). Not sure about the family affiliations behind this one, but it doesn’t matter, it’s a great chwee kueh. Even the more famous Tiong Bahru and Ghim Moh ones don’t quite match up.
At four for one buck I am always impressed by how cheap and awesome chwee kueh is. It is one of the best things about our little island! The chilli here is power. Not too spicy but it’s very, very tasty. The texture of the chwee kueh is amazing too.
