Open late with a pretty good song selection. Haven’t tested the other kareoke bars so would say this is average. We came late so they couldn’t give us any booze :/.

I think I found my new favourite karaōke spot! If you’re familiar with the taxi stand near Fern & Kiwi and Mad For Garlic, you can find Tang’s in Block B(Mad for Garlic side) on the second floor. Look for their bright, neon green logo. A work colleague invited me to a karaōke session here, and I was unsure what to expect as I was super judgy of their Clarke Quay location. What I thought would be a sleazy karaōke joint turned out to be clean, updated, and super fun! Walking out of the elevator is a bit strange, as there is a Korean convenience store that you have to walk through before getting to the front desk. It’s brightly lit and you can buy beers or ciders by the bottle, along with some snacks for your karaōke session.(Not to worry though, they do have a bar where you can buy liquor bottles and mixers.) There are plenty of rooms, I would say at least 20 of them. I was in Room 14, which could hold 8 people comfortably. Similar to K Box in Chinatown, they have a touch screen where you can go through their directory of songs. I’d still say it’s not too user friendly as it takes a while to understand the flow of entering the songs you want. However, I was impressed with their song selection. Not only did they have today’s hits, but they definitely had a wider selection of the classics… and when I mean classics, I mean Britney Spears(OHCOMEON, BRITNEYISTOTALLYYOURGUILTYPLEASURE) and Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing. I’m still in disbelief that K Box didn’t have those songs. I was extremely excited that their Lonely Island song list included«I’m On A Boat». But some of the lesser known pop artists(for example, Third Eye Blind) only had one or two songs, and they weren’t the best ones, in my opinion. But considering they need to appeal to the mainland Chinese, Cantonese, Korean, Japanese, and English contingents, I will give them some slack for not having all the English hits that I’m looking for. I also appreciated the service — they didn’t interrupt us unless we called and needed something. However, the bathrooms could be a little cleaner, and some of the stalls did run out of toilet paper towards the end of the night. The only reason why I’m hesitant to give 5 stars is because I don’t know what the price is. There were 6 of us, and we were there for 4 hours and ordered 2 bottles. Once I receive the final bill from my colleague, I will update you all on whether the price is justified!
