Apparently this was one of the places to eat at when around Mustafa back in its hey-day… in the late 80s or early 90s. The service used to be better, the marsala tea used to be spicier, and the food was also better. This is all according to my mum, who used to work at KK hospital and hang around the Serangoon area back when I was… not born yet. So we ordered the Chicken Chili Marsala. The chicken was juicy, and it was definitely spicy, but it tasted like Chicken marinated in Chinese Dried Chili. Definitely not what we were expecting. The Palak Paneer was good. As was the Butter Fried Daal. The daal in particular was one of the best I’ve had. I didn’t try the bindi marsala that my mum ordered, so I can’t comment on that, my salted lassi was a little bit watery, but quite salty-ly good, and my mum’s marsala tea was just disappointing in terms of spice. Naan wise… Kashmiri naan is NOT naan topped with fruit. It’s supposed to be naan made with dried fruit pressed INTO the naan. Was so disappointed to see what they tried to pass off as Kashmiri naan. The garlic naan was a little better, but nothing compared to Tiffin Room or Song of India. Am I comparing them unfairly? I don’t think so. It’s a tandoor oven. And this is bread. I’m not comparing the other dishes, I think that awesome naan is something even the humblest of tandoori restaurants should be able to deliver. Verdict: MEH.
