Signs I’m moving on up– I now have a Strip outlet within walking distance from me! This is a smaller outlet in I12 Katong. Everything is quite standard, from the aftercare products, to the furniture, to the rooms, to the waxing. My therapist this time around was quite efficient, though I wish she did a little trimming before going to town(it was a while since I’d taken care of the situation down there, okay?!) Maybe it wouldn’t have made a difference if she did, but I’ve felt that in the past, other therapists have done that and it’s made the whole process a bit more bearable. Unfortunately, my current package with them was running low, so the eventual hard selling came into play. However, I think Spa Esprit Group has finally realised that their packages are way too expensive, as I now had the choice to put a 50% down payment instead of the full payment upfront. It was still a complicated explanation as to how I’d save money, but the key is that I only had to pay 50% up front, and then the rest 6 months later. Nice move! They’ve made the packages a lot better, and their location is convenient for me. This outlet gets a cool 4 stars.

Strip is my favorite waxing chain. Fast, efficient, hygienic. Much as the room is cute and comfy, you really don’t want to the treatment to last too long! Buy a package and you can use it at any of their other locations in Singapore. Convenience!

So my regular joint, Pink Parlour, was fully booked and unable to entertain walk in customers. This was a bit of a £$%& situation for me, as I had to fly off to Indonesia in the afternoon and needed to get this matter sorted out an hour ago. A lightbulb moment reminded me that there was a Strip outlet at 112 Katong, and I headed off without further ado. To my surprise and relief, they entertained me and quickly prepped a room and therapist. Prior to the session, one of the staff brought out a nice brochure and wanted to rattle off Strip facts — good marketing effort, I felt, but regretfully, I had to shut her down quickly, explaining that I had a flight to catch and my toiletries were not yet packed. Ushered into a tiny room, I was a little surprised at how nice everything was laid out. It was clean, dim and soothing, and the décor was on the cute side. The bed was high but sturdy, and the therapist was very professional, if a bit dour and rather like the strong, silent type. I also realized that the Strawberry Wax was used, which smelt awesome and almost good enough to eat. The Waxpert quickly had me sorted out, and disappeared as briskly as she entered. Of course, having a package with Pink Parlour does lead me to draw comparisons — Strip doesn’t let you wash up beforehand, which may be a bit traumatizing if you’ve been out gallivanting for a whole day prior to your session. Still, the furnishing at Strip is much nicer, and the overall area seems bigger and more well maintained. Granted, the package seems more expensive in comparison, but at this juncture, I’m seriously considering to switch over to Strip after my package with PP runs out. (All semi indecent insinuations are unintentional. Promise.)
