Great for busy people who don’t like to choose, the yong tau foo here comes pre-selected. You just choose the one that appeals to you the most and you’re good to go. The chilli and broth go perfectly well together, and rather than just making the broth spicy, it adds another level of flavour.

Once you go to People’s Park Food Centre, you will notice a long queue of people queuing up for this particular Yong Tau Foo stall. Unlike those normal style of Yong Tau Foo, you don’t get to choose the ingredient you want from this stall. For one bowl of Yong Tau Foo, it consists of fish ball and tau pok. I love their fish ball, really soft and nice. Their prices are relatively low. The difference between the dry and soup type of yong tau foo is their ikan bilis. If you prefer the ikan bilis to be crispy, then the dry version will definitely suits you. Even though there is always a long queue here, they serve pretty fast. So bear with the queue and enjoy the bowl of delicious food.

Not your standard Yong Tau Fu Store. You don’t get to pick and choose every individual item in your YTF. it comes with a set of assorted YTF items that would consist of fish balls, ikan bilis, veggies, taupok and tofu. The queues are usually 20 mins long. What so popular about their YTF you might ask? Other than their different style of YTF operation and chilli, I would say its nothing that special. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t taste bad, but I would definitely not queue 20 mins for this.

I’ll have one when the stars align… There are a few stalls that at People’s Park Cooked Food Centre that are well known throughout the country and there are two legendary Yong Tau Foo stalls here that vie for the title of ‘most powerful yong tau foo’ award. Poy Kee and Yong Xiang xing Yong Tau Foo. Normally, whenever I walk by these two stalls, goodness gracious me… the queues are insane. I guess for office worker drones, the only perk of the day could be a yummy lunch, so they really have to get their Yong Tau Foo! I never have the patience to queue twenty minutes for anything(well maybe front row Metallica tickets). I also have the habit of rushing from one place to another. A hectic life is a healthy life… Once in a blue moon, at the right time, when the stars align… there’s no queue. And that’s when I’ll have a bowl of perfect Yong Tau Foo from Poy Kee. Yep, if I had to choose, I actually prefer this stall to the other. But only because the auntie is more friendly. The standard of the actual dish is to me, equally good. The way Yong Tau Foo is supposed to taste, try it!
