It can be hard to find restaurants, especially in Asia, that understand vegetarianism, so naturally I was so excited to try Original Sin! The wait staff were fantastic — very friendly and happy to accommodate special requests. My girlfriends and I had a beautiful set lunch and the food was so delicious! Will definitely be returning.

If I could give this place no stars at all, I would! I don’t know what kind of disgusting kitchen you guys operate in, what kind of cheap, stale produce you use or whether or not cleanliness is important to your staff, but my parents went in to eat at this place last night and BOTH of them didn’t stop vomiting and going to the bathroom all night long. So much so, they had to go to the ER to get help and has to be admitted and connected to an IV drip all night and my mother has now developed a fever and is currently still admitted in the hospital! Needless to say, they are never going back there ever again and we’re going to make sure that our family and friends never go there either!

Friends recommended this place due to its location and food. Location is especially nice and quiet and not in a mall :-) The impression over the phone was a big let down thanks to an unfriendly lady taking the reservation. After we arrived at the place we were surprised by the nice interior but again the staff was not really welcoming without maybe one exception. Service is okay but nothing special … And that’s exactly what makes a restaurant different to others. Staff seemed not overly interested or charming. The mushrooms as starter were fantastic, calzone was average because of the dough. The other meals were good. Overall we enjoyed the evening thanks to the quiet atmosphere and having dinner outside a mall, but this place could be so much more with a few little improvements. We will anyway come again to try the rest of the menu. We would rate 3.5 if possible.

Had lunch with co worker here. I lived in HV area and I haven’t tried this place until recently. Highly recommended for vegetarians or anyone who eats healthy to indulge in! It is pricey for what it is but yes, it is sinfully delicious!

My first trip here — in 2012 — was much better than a recent visit — February 2014. Both the food and service seem to have taken a turn for the worse. I took a large group both visits and the experience for all was better in 2012. The waitstaff seemed harried recently and confused orders. The food wasn’t as freshly prepared and my pasta was quite watery. I won’t visit again.

Great location — two minutes walk from Holland Village MRT station. Came here on a Thursday night for date night, because I felt like a vegetarian dinner. I was pleasantly surprised, despite not knowing what to expect. We had the: 1. Mezze Platter A Middle Eastern platter with a selection of dips. Hummus chick pea dip, Aromatic pumpkin and carrot, Eggplant baba ganoush, Yogurt tzatziki, served with Falafel balls and ciabatta bread.(Summaries copied from the Original Sin menu) Oh my, this platter has amazing bread, freshly baked, and the hummus/eggplant were pretty darn awesome. 2. Magic Mushroom baked Portobello mushroom with ricotta cheese, spinach, pesto, topped with a tomato basil sauce and mozzarella I wanted an additional serving of this but my companion stopped me, because he wasn’t sure about the size of our mains. Boohoo. 3. Spanakopita baked ricotta, spinach, feta and filo pastry served with grilled portobello and mixed vegetable ratatouille Quite nice, but nothing special. 4. Moussaka baked layers of char-grilled eggplant, potato, tomato and lentils, infused with middle eastern spices, topped with a white sauce I didn’t like this because it was filled with lentils and tasted like a completely veggie lasagna. I would not order this again. I would come back, but maybe for the starters and different mains. We didn’t have dessert here because they had a very small dessert selection and 2am was right opposite… But that’s a separate review.

My meal at Original Sin was very enjoyable, but other than the fact that it was vegetarian and still awesome, it wasn’t particularly memorable. If I could only eat vegetarian cuisine, or was dating someone that was vegetarian, or was vegetarian once a week, I’d probably rate this place 4 stars. But since vegetarian for me is a non-existence craving(I go when I want to really change things up, when I’m feeling very jaded, or very unhealthy), that makes Original Sin just A-ok. The Beetroot salad my companion and I shared was rather underwhelming. The salad snob that she is, she found the use of iceberg lettuce vaguely disappointing(the current online menu seems to indicate this has changed; it now says spinach instead of lettuce) and overall it just wasn’t a particularly memorable salad, as salads go. Beetroot does not a star make unless it’s been treated special or given a good supporting cast. The mains on the other hand, were delicious. The Spanakopita and Lasagna were both hearty, flavourful, absolutely addictive, and very filling. Just typing about it now is making me crave it. And considering I started writing this review over 6 months ago, maybe it’s time to revisit Original Sin. Right after I satisfy my steak craving that is.

Great vegetarian restaurant with vegan options as well in the Holland Village area. A bit pricey compared to other places, but definitely worth it. Went there with some colleagues. I had the Strozza Preti; great combi of pasta and veggies.

Great little place in Holland Village. Even though it’s vegetarian, it has a broad menu full of options. I had the capsicum with quinoa(and great tzasiki.) It came with olives and tomatoes and a side salad. it was all was delicious. My friend had the broccoli pesto and loved that as well. They had a nice wine list and the prices were pretty decent. They can also make items many items gluten free(but sadly not the pizzas.) It’s a nice place to sit on the patio and enjoy a meal. It started to get real busy around noon so you may want to arrive early for prime seating.

If you love vegetarian food, this is probably one of the best places in Singapore. We had the Meza platter as starter and then the Bosco Misto and Risotto. All was wonderful and there is also a great winelist. You will need a reservation on the weekend. I am giving it only 4 starts because the menu hasn’t changed much over the past few years, but hey — never change a winning team… — !

A friend told me this was her favorite restaurant in Singapore. I scheduled an evening for my team to enjoy a dinner out while there on business. Unfortunately, we were all less than impressed. The food just lacked flavor vision for the food was just lost. Even our two vegetarians weren’t impressed in the least. Out of everywhere in Singapore and more specifically holland village I would try something else.

It’s nice to have a vegetarian restaurant in this area and Original Sin does OK. There’s a nice environment and the food isn’t bad, but it’s not inventive or extraordinary either. The menu is mostly pizzas, pastas and salads. There’s a risotto and a soup and a few good but overpriced appetizers. The food is hit or miss. I have had tasty items but the potato leek and cauliflower soup could have easily been from a can. Try it once and see for yourself but don’t get over excited or you may be disappointed.

Went to eat at this Vegetarian restaurant on a saturday and almost had no seats due to it being reserved to the max. This was our first time there. Wife had the lunch set which by the way is 7days /week. I ordered Fritters and the lasagna. Soup of the day of Pumpkin was very good(9.5÷10), though we both thought a perfect 10 score would be warranted if it was abit thicker. Fritters of eggplant and parsnip was very good as well. Never knew parsnip could be so good ! Then came the lasagna… omg… it was very very good considering it is a vegetarian version. The chocolate cake and ice cream as some of the reviewers had mentioned was heavenly. oh, and not to mentioned our 2 kids(2.5 years and 8 months) was with us, and we really appreciated the restaurant /waiter accommodated when we found my daughter loved the soup and we asked for an additional small serving. They were very kind to oblige. overall we want to go back again to try out other offerings… Very high potential that this will be my wife’s new favorite restaurant !

Yay fancay veggie restaurant in Singapore! Came here for brunch with friends. I already knew it was ganna be pricey — so i was pleasantly surprised with the lunch set menu, which I thought was a really good deal. the set(for S$ 27 + tax/etc. = $ 30 sing) gets you: 1) Soup/Salad/or healthy juice 2) choice of a main — I got the hummus wrap, my friend got the tofu burger(there are like 2 or 3 more other choices i forget) 3) chocolate cake & coffee(REALLY good cake… comes topped w/vanilla ice cream and was good coffee too) Another friend ordered the Mussaka — which was really hearty. We also got the platter of cibatta bread, hummus, babaganoush, feta cheese, falaffel, olives, etc. Overall really enjoyed the food. The menu looks great — lots of veggie italian choices, next time i’d like to try their veggie ratatouille =)

I rarely am a fan of vegetarian restaurants, but this one is an exception. This place takes vegetarian food to a different level — all dressed up and ready for prom! We had Mezze Platter for appetizer — the baba ganoush was excellent and so were other options on the platter. For the main course we had the following — Risotto — nice and creamy and cooked perfectly. Absolut — the pasta was yummy and the vegetables were cooked well and the flavor of the sauce tied it all together! Service was a tad bit too slow for my liking but the entire experience was very good.

Original Sin specialises in vegetarian cuisine that has Mediterranean-inspired flavours. The restaurant feels very sophisticated and posh, and can come across as a little high cuisine rather than casual dining. I was definitely impressed with the décor and the ambience, and had high expectations of the food. The party I came with was certainly not let down by either the service or the quality of the food. The portobello mushrooms(or Magic Mushrooms) were juicy and flavourful, and we could not get enough of them. The Mezze Platter was also a instant crowd favourite, with the hummus dip and eggplant being particularly mouth-watering. Having had the perfect appetiser, our entrees only continued the momentum. I doubt I had ever gushed over vegetarian food before coming to this restaurant. Do note that prices are rather steep at this restaurant: be prepared to pay above $ 40 per person if you intend to have an appetiser and mains for each. I’d recommend you try this once — if only to challenge your conception of vegetarian food and how tastefully it can be done.

Chipbee garden is for the more mature holland v crowd(except for the daily scoop), people who just want to chill out and enjoy a good meal in a nice ambiance and most of them enjoy wine and italian food. Original sin perfectly suits the strip. Nice ambiance, relaxing vibes, good wine, service staff is well trained and properly dressed etc. Everything seems right… except for the food. That is just plain and boring. Even a little bit more salt would do wonders. Trying to cut back on meat myself, I hope Original Sin doesn’t turn people away from dining out vegetarian. If you want to go vegetarian a better option is to order a risotto at da paolo ristorante or get a mushroom truffle pizza at da paolo pizzabar down the street.

I made a huge mistake by taking a seat before looking at the menu and finally realized it is a Vegetarian restaurant! Don’t get me wrong, I am open to tofu burgers and all things vegetarian but I was in the mood for some meat that night. The surrounding restaurants were packed so I decided to stick it out and stay. Nothing in particular on the menu caught my eye so I just played it safe and went with a risotto. I think it was a mushroom based one. Risotto to me is like Italian porridge and if done right, it could pack quite a load of flavor. The one I had at Original Sin was a tad bit bland or maybe it was my taste-buds that were being stubborn. Either way it just tasted like comfort food without the meat. Not much to rave about but great environment to enjoy an alfresco dinner!
