Orgo Bar and Restaurant

5 stars for the view, 4 stars for the drinks and service. Service is usually pretty prompt, but when it gets busy they tend to forget things. Last time I ordered a carafe of sangria, they forgot to put the fruit garnishes on the glasses like they usually do. Otherwise, service is polite and prompt.
Drinks are pricey and kinda diluted, but you can’t expect much from rooftop bar that’s mostly selling its views. The views are stunning though — the bar overlooks the Singapore River with MBS to the left and the business district on the right. It’s a rooftop bar so there’s isn’t air conditioning, but if you want to feel fancy, there’s a spacious glass cubicle with AC all around right at the entrance. There’s a $ 400 minimum spending if you want to use it on the weekends, but on weekdays anyone can use it if it’s free. Also loved the neon swing thingies, it’s fun to spin around on. Definitely check it out if you’re hanging out around Esplanade with your friends!

Bar/​Restaurant in einmaliger Lage auf dem Dach des Konzerthauses in Singapur, das an eine aufgeschnitte Haelfte einer Durian erinnert. Von der Terrasse aus hat man einen einmaligen Blick auf die Skyline von Singapur, die schon fast ein wenig an Manhatten erinnert. Die Kueche ist eher franzoesisch, die Bar wird von einem japanischen Bartender gefuehrt. Der Eigentuemer ist Amerikaner asiatischer Abstammung, und mit einer Japanerin verheiratet. Internationaler geht fast nicht mehr. Das Essen habe ich noch nicht getestet, kommt aber noch. Was die Cocktails anbelangt ist Singapur noch ein Entwicklungsland. Aber auf alle Faelle besser, als das, was in auch renomierten Hotelbars angeboten wird. Interessant ist die Variation des Singapore Sling. Unrspruenglich im Raffels Hotel gemixt (DA sollte man ihn nicht trinken!), und in der Orgo Bar mit Ingwer etwas abgeaendert. Hat was. Den Stern Abzug gibt’s einfach deswegen, weil ich von einem international erfahrenen Bartender erwarte, dass er nen Mint Julip drauf hat. Diesen Wunsch hat er mir leider nicht erfuellt. Aber wie gesagt, hinsichtlich Cocktails ist in dieser Stadt noch Entwicklungspotential.
