Darren and the boys at Orgo go out of their way to please. Friendly and accommodating, secluded and an almost isolated rooftop position gives an exclusive and unique perspective to the traditional Singapore skyline. Munchies were a bit lacking for the«drink and run» agenda that we had for our Last night in Singapore but the Tempura Shrimp were an adequate if not inspirational accompaniment t8 the cocktails. The Beloved is a Mojito fan so Darren(maitre’d) suggested a Bellini but she opted for the Champagne Mojito with Apple. Highly recommended with plenty of muddled mint to please the Mojito enthusiast and enough differential by being served in a pint glass to personalise it to the establishment. My request for a memorable gin based cocktail was fulfilled by a «negrita» which had something, something and Gin with a bloody great ball of ice smothering a sliver of orange… Apparently it was rather strong… can you tell?

Come when you need to bring visitors, it has quite a under-rated view of Marina Bay from a different angle. Didn’t try the food, but do not make the cocktails the reason for coming. They are nothing to rave about, expensive and not good. But the location is interesting, the view can be stunning dependent on the weather, and you can also get to hear music/performances from the outdoor theatre below. Two stars for the drinks and service, one star for the view.

I only came here for drinks, hence have not had the chance to try the food, but I can safely say that they have pretty impressive cocktails and a good selection of wines. The real winner for me, however, was the design of Orgo. It feels both industrial and luxurious at the same time, being composed of a main glass-enclosed space with clean, sleek lines and a fairly large outdoor area. With amazing views from the Esplanade rooftop, it’s no wonder they wanted the feel to be as open as possible so that patrons, seated indoors or outdoors, would be able to enjoy an unhindered view. What I liked, in particular, was the smaller glass cube in the middle of the outdoor area that housed a single dining table, allowing those diners to enjoy a certain degree of isolation whilst remaining immersed in the general ambience. A simple design that really works. However, as much as I liked the feel of Orgo, I really wouldn’t go unless I have friends visiting in town and I think they’d enjoy the view. It’s a little too expensive and I can’t imagine hanging out here regularly. Nevertheless, four stars because it’s still an inspired place with great design.
