I wondered if the old auntie who took my orders was having a bad morning as she was pulling a glum face. Fortunately, it was another auntie who was rolling the popiah, though each roll turned out smaller than expected. Nitty gritty issues aside, I must confessed that the rolls here are one of the better ones I’ve had.
I doubt it was because I ordered «加辣» as the rolls weren’t very spicy. Yet the medley of juices from the braised turnips, sweet sauce and chilli made them extra flavorful.
Although bits of soggy skin stuck to the plate, they were supple enough to hold the fillings, yet YIELDING moist and chewy bites. Gritty, juicy with tingling heat beneath the sweetness, each mouthful was a sensation.

My favorite popiah at the moment. Dosent seem to use much lard /oil, but the taste just works. Filling is great with little crispy bits. For $ 1.50 /roll, this is probably one of the most value for money items you have that’s tastes really good as well! And relatively healthy to boot!
To note: If you’re the sort that prefers a lot of sauce, you may want to specifically ask for more as they don’t use much.

Big ass popiah with fresh, crunchy vegetable fillings and fish bits for the price — not as good as what I got in KL, but it’s not bad too. I’ll be back for the kuih pie tee whenever I’m in the area next time

Old Long House has been bestowed honour of Makansutra Street Food Master, it’s certainly worth the effort of locating this tiny stall in the food court of a residential high-rise complex, to try their wonderful popiah.
The dough skin is thin and soft, barely holds together a moist mixture of well stewed turnips, crispy fish bits, and crunchy bean sprouts that if you leave it untouched for a minute longer, the dough skin might soak through and the whole popiah would fall apart. But worry not, these tasty eats are devoured with some passionate swiftness there is no chance for it to sit long.
Seek this place out and you will be rewarded a good popiah.
