Great beer and the food looked good. Will need to come back and try some of their dishes because looked really nice. I just drank tho haha Very nice décor and feel to place. If you want some good beer in a comfortable and chill setting then this will do the trick

This review is for the Beef Pulled Pork Tacos, which I Deliveroo’d. While $ 15 is pretty pricey for 2 tacos, if they’re good, I’ll gladly pay for them. These ones were just… sad and depressing. It seems like they assemble the taco before putting it in the oven/under a salamander to get the cheese all ooey-gooey. Unfortunately, they overdid the roasting and the edges of the tortilla were hard and the pork really dry. Didn’t taste any mojo marinade. In fact, this taco had no mojo at all. Ultimately, you come to this place for the beers. I ordered a Pale Lager with my Deliveroo, which bumped up my review by one star. Should’ve known better than to order food from a craft beer place. Should’ve done my homework on Unilocal. Won’t bother with the food here again. And doubt I’ll come down for the beers either.

Ok, so this place has been reviewed to death, and everybody loves it, and why not, there is very little not to like about NIckelDime. It’s not a dive bar… actually, I don’t think that Singapore is ready for a dive bar just yet, with everybody looking to cash in on the hipster custom. I can’t fault that kind of ruthless business logic and while everybody’s eager to please and to carve out a comfortable niche for themselves in the Singapore craft beer scene, I’m more than happy to give them my money. Nickeldime all-round good guy Frank is someone you’d like to get to know right off. He knows his tipple and he’s happy to hear what you’d like and insatiably curious about what drives the consumer psyche. Most importantly, he’s got a very open mind, out of which popped out Nickeldime’s concept for a gastro-pub-y, craft beer serving, calorie fun house with neat little tricks like Sriracha nuts and those cute little thin crust pizza bombs! Of course, all this is curiously interesting to me, but I come here to give Frank and his crew my money because they have serious taps giving forth some very very nice craft brews from Lervig, 8 Wired, Konrad, Stone and Deschutes and even Coedo. This is is a little quirk of the Singapore craft scene, but you’ll get what you get when you walk in the door and it all comes down to the supply chain which I have stopped trying to figure out, leaving it to smarter more determined minds like Frank’s to unravel. The other really attractive thing about Nickeldime is their willingness to do flights or tasters, which is a huge plus if a place has more than 4 taps and you’d like to taste all the beers on tap and get a relatively sound sense of what each beer is about. To do that you need about 100−200ml of each, which the fine folks at Nickeldime are happy to do for you in flights of 3 beers. At the time of writing, my favorite and something I keep coming back to again and again till they run out is 8 Wired’s awe-inspiring imperial IPA, Superconductor. It even sounds cool… if an ale with an above average ABV and below-the-belt hop balance is what gets your attention, then you need to drop by before I drink it all. Oh yeah, they also have a few bottles…

There have been a lot of upgrades since my first visit, so time for an update. The beer is still the star of the show. One of the best draft selections in town, and with a wider range than when they first opened. I love the fact that there are always a few«challenging» beers, such as a sour or a big beefy stout. The biggest change is the addition of the sushi/sake bar. It’s connected, but in a separate room so it doesn’t seem like a strange juxtaposition. The sushi chef, Jeff, really knows his stuff. It’s refreshing when you get to sit at a sushi bar and really feel passion from the guy behind the counter. The main menu is solid too if you need to satisfy an indulgent cheeseburger/pizza fix.

One of my favourite places for draught craft beer. Rotating, seasonal selection means that there’s always something new to try. Beers are well curated, ranging from gateway pales and lagers, to hardcore double IPAs and imperial stouts. Boss Frank Shen walks the floor regularly and is often seen tapping beers for patrons, chatting them up to make sure all is well. Food is decent — pizzas a bit too skinny for my taste. But its decent enough to satisfy. Worth visiting! Edit: forgot to mention — FREEWIFI. Yea, i have a thing about that.

This place is cooool. Happy hour is until 7 and is buy 1 get one draft Sapporo at around$ 12. They have a pretty good selection of craft beers and ciders, and the menu has a lot of tasty-sounding food. I had The Duke — a pulled pork blue cheese coleslaw ham sandwich thing. It was delicious. As mentioned, the place is cool. Brick walls, pallets, chalkboards and incandescent bulbs everywhere. Staff are friendly and attentive, music is good, and the atmosphere is relaxed. The biggest downside is that the craft beers are a bit expensive compared to other places in Singapore. They do have a lot of them on tap though, so whatever. One more downside… the name Nickeldime is super close to Nickelback. Dammit Nickelback.

NickelDime has become my favorite«local.» The beer selection is always top notch(it seems like everything is scored 90 or higher on beer advocate). There are always a lot of different types of beer to pick from(16+ on tap) and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. Frank is the best. Maybe the best part — they have a good selection of take away craft beers as well. Good stuff.

Being as I stay in Zhongshan Park a lot when I travel to Singapore for work, the past fee times I’ve had to cab it out of the area to find a bar where I can light up a cigar, enjoy a good brew and just unwind. On this past trip I found Nickeldime and as it brands itself as a craft brew bar, even better. I’m from California, so when I walked in and saw Stone Brewing on tap and in bottles, I was stoked. The fact that its a 10 minute stroll down Irrawaddy? Bonus. The place itself was quite spacious, with a loungy area, smaller and communal bench tables. I sat in a small outside area with 4 bar height tables, and ordered a new beers over 2 hours and enjoyed my cigars. In didn’t eat, but the staff was hella nice, the beer was ice cold and the folks in the patio area were quite friendly so it made for a nice evening. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat. Definitely going to come back my next time out.

Nickeldime is still a very new kid on the block in Novena, but I’m digging it so far. I really like the space, as it’s reminiscent of a hipster beer hall in Brooklyn. The tables are big and good for groups of 4 – 6, and there’s a nice patio where I’ve seen patrons bring their dogs. There are also some couches and smaller tables that are good for kicking back and enjoying a cold one. Lately, they’ve been playing some older pop playlists(think Ciara, 50 Cent when he used to actually rap… basically, early 2000s!) Food can be a bit hit or miss. I’ve really enjoyed the pizzas, which apparently have beer in the dough. To be honest, it’s hard for me to taste it, but I’ve enjoyed it anyway! The appetizers are okay, desserts are nothing to shout about. But of course, we’re here for the beer! I’m no craft beer expert, but I can tell you that you will not find Bud, Miller, Tiger, or Heineken around these parts. Think more along the lines of Rogue. Can’t stay for a pint? Not to worry, there’s a little retail area where you can grab a 6 pack to take home with you. I feel like this is one of the few trendy craft beer places in Novena, so it’s a great place to stop by if you’re in the area. I’m always down for a pint, let me know when you go!

Being passionate about craft beer I welcomed the introduction to this place which I read up on following a link sent to me by a style and tastewise similarly inclined colleague. So I headed on down there for a lunch. I was the first to arrive but lets be frank about its location. It is right on Thompson Rd on the other side of Novena Square meaning a fair trudge over an overpass if you choose to get there by MRT or if you go by Taxi be preapred for Thomson Rd traffic. Its simply unappealing ambience wise. The internal Ambience was ok, they had made a fair attempt at creating an American style cozy arrangement with a lounge area and bench style table and seats. Attached internally was also a retail section where bottled beers were sold. The draft beer menu was on the board and had what I considered to be quite a large selection of beers all served on tap. This was a definite plus point as most places touting a large craft beer range usually only provide bottles. I recall around 15 beers available. However the beers were extremely priced. Listed prices ranged from $ 12 to $ 16 for 350 mls of beer, which scales up to more than $ 20 to $ 27 per pint after they add their GST and service charge. I dont mind paying a bit of a premium for special beers but these prices were insane. I sat down and while waiting for my friend ordered stout meatballs with barbecue glaze, hot crab India pale ale(IPA) cheese dip to start. Their descriptions were mothwatering from a prior review I had read. But I was disappointed. The meatballs were tough and tasted stale, they had to be prepared way in advance and frozen then defrosted in a microwave. The cheese dip literally tasted like melted processed cheese mixed with flour. If there was any hint of crab let alone any other flavour then I could not detect it. Uttlery tasteless. I thought I might be wrong or unlucky but my colleague arrived and I said nothing. He tasted the meatballs and his face grimaced and pushed them away, and even told the waiter they were not very nice. The waiter did not know what to say or do and just walked away. We chose not to order anything further from the menu accordingly. In summary, a good selection of beers served draft, but overpriced. In the wrong location, and the food is no attraction. Afraid I wont be back.

After reading about a new bar in the hood, much less a bar with 15 beers on draft, I just had to go. So after dinner, I trekked down to Nickeldime, and for the most part, I was very happy with the experience, although, granted, most of my review will be weighted towards the beer. Having 15 beers on draft would be no big deal in Seattle. But in Singapore, it’s a rarity, and it was quite the international collection with brews from the US, UK, Belgium, Japan, Italy, Czech republic, and Germany. My only complaint would be that you should not be serving a beer north of 8% ABV in an oversized shot glass, but in terms of quality and selection, Nickeldime delivers. As for the food, I only tried the«buffalo» wings, and while the wings were tasty, they were definitely not buffalo wings. First, there was way too much breading. and second, the sauce was too sweet and almost like a BBQ sauce, while Buffalo wings should taste like Frank’s hot sauce. As for the space, it’s ok, but here’s a suggestion to make it better. I went alone, and there were a few other single diners. Rather than giving them an entire table, how about using the bar space where you are displaying bottles or creating a larger communal table(the taller tables would be ideal) to optimize seating? Anyway, overall, I really liked Nickeldime, but focus is mainly on beer. They also have a retail section so take a look and also get a few brews to go as well. Definitely a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and to Singapore in general!

Having seen this new restaurant from over the road we finally made the jump across it to check it out. The décor impressed is with the a rustic look that included wooden pallets, incandescent lamps and a cosy corner of couches to mingle with friends. It set the tone for what was a disappointing meal, to say the least. Besides a main arriving before the starter(something basic that Singaporean restaurants perpetually don’t get) the meals were oily to the point where I can still taste the slick in my mouth as I write this a couple of hours later. The chicken salad was overpriced for what you get; small, burnt echoes of what would otherwise be described as the tail ends of poultry that wouldn’t have constituted half a McNugget if I had cemented them together. The calamari tasted like floury oil which probably explained the batter’s reluctance to stick to the tasteless rubbery meat. The sliced chilli and maionnise was a futile attempt to save this disastrous dish as we couldn’t stomach eating more than half of what was presented to us in the bowl. The chicken flatbread was written as pulled chicken in the menu but in reality it was pulled from the deep fryer in tiny cubes. Not only was the bread flat, it also described its contents and flavour. We understand from the other reviews that the burgers are nice and we had a drink that was pleasant. However, this experience has put us off returning completely. It would have been better if they had stuck to a brewery with a few snacks or kept the menu smaller. Now, time to brush my teeth…

There are two things that Nickeldime is known for. First, is a fantastic selection of CRAFTBEERS from the US of A and the UK, etc. Folks, they have Rogue, Deschutes, Stone IPA, etc. I’m a huge fan of Rogue, so for a Singapore Drafthouse to have this, is a huge plus! Second, BEERDOUGHPIZZA. Say What!!! Yes, BEERINFUSEDPIZZA. Rather than using water to make the dough, they use beer. For the purpose of full disclosure, I’m not a Pizza guy. I’d rather take a rice dish any day of the week over pizza. I’m still on the fence on whether the beer makes the food better, ok slightly, but I must say the pizza with the egg on top(I apologize I don’t know the name of the dish of the top of my head) is a real winner. There are other great pizzas as well. The dough is the same so it’s a matter of choosing your preference for ingredients. The ambience was pretty sick as well. I went to high school in the early 2000s and College in the late 2000s at NYU. Nickel Dime had a playlist that brought me back to my college/immature years. It was fun reminiscing the past. Who could forget Omarion’s — Ice Box, Usher– Burn, Craig David — 7 days. Look, if ur like me in ur late 20s to early 30s and are looking to have good beer, with a great tasting, and have a desire to reminisce your single life, I mean past… :D Nickel Dime is ur place.

Yup. One star. My first one star restaurant. Let me explain, Nickledime draft house sells themselves as a place where they sell imported bottled craft beers as well as craft beer on tap. They also claim to make beer infused food. My husband and I really wanted to love this place, we stayed close by and we wanted a place we can chill and have date nights at. Unfortunately, our experience last night was quite a disappointment. First off, the service was sub par. They had about 5 to 6 servers serving 6 to 7 tables of customers and yet it was hard for us to get anyone’s attention. Then a long 40 some minutes after we put in our order, the server realized she had totally forgotten to send our orders to the kitchen and had to take our orders all over again. By then, our night was already spoilt. We tried to complained to the manager/owner but all we get was an insincere«sorry», no efforts was made to compensate our time wasted, nothing, not a small discount, not even a tiny cake or something. Nothing. For a restaurant that was barely 2 weeks old, this is not acceptable. The food came within 5 mins, but you could tell it was not prepared fresh. We had beef infused pork tacos and soft boiled egg pizza with bacon. The tacos tasted microwaved, the pork was dry, where is the beef infusion that you guys were raving about?! As for the pizza, the crust was baked till burnt, how high heat did you use to cook the pizza so you can send it out to us in 5 mins? Even the egg on top was sooooo overdone I could probably bounce it across the table. So disappointed. Soo disappointed we went across the road to have a bowl of good old prawn mee each with tiger beer. A whooping 64 dollars wasted at this place. We really really had wanted to love this place, but with this service and with this food. No matter how great your beer is, I am not coming back.
