Ng Kim Lee Confectionery

It’s a hit or miss!
Chicken mushroom pie ($ 1.80) — 3 stars
Not much filling — there were probably 2 small chunks of chicken in it — so it was kinda dry. But it’s $ 1.80 so I guess you can’t expect much.

It was my colleague who got me hooked onto the pastries and cakes from Ng Kim Lee as she brought them into the office one day.
According to her, she’s been eating it since she was a kid and the standards have remained consistent throughout the years. After getting the location from her, I decided to pay the bakery a visit myself and I was impressed with what I saw. Standing out from the rest of the shophouses thanks to its very old-​looking shop front and signboard. I found out that they’ve been in business for over 60 years and that they can bake up a storm. Everything from wedding cakes, gift items to wedding baskets can be ordered.
What I came for isn’t as grand — just the mini muffins and the pandan cake that my colleague brought in for us. When I got back, even my mother was surprised that I knew about Ng Kim Lee as she herself had them when she was a kid.
