Food is decent at a slightly premium price! Was here on a Sunday afternoon around 3pm with lots of parking space just at the basement of the building. The Ng Ah Sio here is not the original outlet, but serves decent bak kut teh just like the stall at Rangoon Road. Ample of seating places when I visited with 3 others. We ordered 2 portions of bak kut teh, 1 pork liver and kidney(offal) soup, 2 portions of tang o(vegetables), 1 nasi lemak and 1 hainanese chicken rice. The bak kut teh comes with 2 pork ribs, and the soup is slightly too salty for all of us. Good thing, the offals do not have this smelly«porky» taste. We enjoyed the vegetables and its soup the most, as it taste slightly less salty than the pork ribs soup! Bak kut teh is priced at $ 9.80 each, unless you get the set which comes with rice, preserved vegetables and you tiao(fried doughs) at $ 11.80. Soup is refillable, just like all other bak kut teh stalls in Singapore. I particularly like the nasi lemak! It’s priced at $ 7.80, and comes with 1 chicken wing, 1 otah, 1 fried egg, some peanuts and ikan bilis(fried silver fish) and complete with cucumbers and chilli! The rice is perfectly cooked in coconut, and the chicken wing is so well marinated! Chicken rice is priced at $ 8.80, and it’s really good! I enjoy the peace and privacy we had over lunch, and dining in air conditioned(compared to the original Ng Ah Sio stall). This slightttt premium price is worth it!

Located at Chui Huay Lim Club near Newton, it is opened to the public. The place looks new and clean. It is pretty spacious and can be a nice quiet place for lunch. The counter is neat and the cloth for cleaning the tables or counter is placed in individual container, not the typical practice of just leaving it lying around. It serves other local dishes besides bak kut teh. They are nasi lemak, hainanese chicken rice, laksa, mee rebus, mee siam and curry chicken rice. Kaya toast is also on the menu. We tried the laksa and hainanese chicken rice besides the bak kut teh. Bak Kut Teh — hot piping peppery soup keeps the tummy warm. The ribs are quite big though the meat does not fall off the bones easily. Entire cloves of garlic melt in the mouth. Top up of soup is allowed. Laksa — nice lemak gravy with generous serving of prawns, taupok, fishcakes and sprouts. Chicken rice — also a decent portion of the steamed chicken with a side of achar. The presentation is very appetizing, similar to Chatterbox’s style but at a fraction of the cost and portion.
