Nana and Bird is a tiny little hidden shop along the Yong Siak Street stretch in Tiong Bahru. Look out for the sign/signboard, climb up 3 steps into a back alleyway where you’ll find the entrance to Nana & Bird. I like the retro feel of the place, and while it’s a small space, it’s packed full of prettiness, with dresses, jewellery and accesories in both local and international labels. The prices are more targeted towards the working crowd, it’s definitely nice to be able to wear things that not the entire world is wearing as well.

I love how the appreciation for independent and non high-street fashion designers are on the rise in Singapore. nana & bird is a recent addition to this bustling fashion scene, and has made a name for itself with its pop up fashion-related events in the past few months. The boutique takes up a small space, as it shares its premises with a design company, but somehow manages to contain some of the prettiest dresses and jewelry I’ve seen. A little space at the back is designated for pop up events — great for online retail shops who want to meet their customers once in a while! The shop stocks regional and local designers such as Nikicio from Indonesia and By Invite Only from Singapore. Prices are a little on the high side but it’s inevitable for uniquely produced items. Do stop by when you’re in the neighbourhood!
