Located inside Hotel Jen the morning buffet breakfast is pretty good. There is a wide selection of local and continental breakfast options. Eggs — any style — are cooked on demand ensuring they are hot and fresh. Service is efficient and friendly as you would expect from such an establishment.

The restaurant environment excellent. Very modern looking. This review is for the buffet brunch. Being a weekday, there was not many customers, even so our plates piled up to around 5 plates high before the waiter removed them. As it was a brunch, there was not many selections. They do have sushi, some cold sea food, roasted pork & duck. you can get freshly made eggs to your liking at The egg station. A good variety of drinks including druid juices and freshly ground coffee latte and cappuccino. Desserts includes fruits, cakes and 8 different types of ice cream.

I would say this is a 3.5 stars joint. Makan has the cheapest lunch deals in town(Orchard area) for a hotel. Choose a main for just $ 9.90(includes free flow coffee/tea/iced tea) and if you want a fuller meal, you can add $ 5 for either an appetizer or dessert buffet. It will be additional $ 10 if you want both. It does get crowded after 12pm when you get the office crowd as it is really good deal. The food is average. The choice of mains(about 4 dishes) changes daily and it includes local and western options. I would say it reminds me of the food in the old Hotel Phoenix which is also where Hotel Jen is occupying now. I like the place with its airy high ceiling and floor to ceiling windows. You get to see greenery all around. The appetizer and dessert buffet selection is small but they will fill you up. I like that everything is in small pieces, perfect for a taste. Ice cream is very local with durian and corn flavors, besides the usual chocolate and strawberry. The coffee is great as it is made with a machine and you can have your choice of latte, cappuccino, etc. Same with the tea(choose your tea bag) and iced tea. I saw peach flavored and lemon and green tea. There is even a pitcher with cinnamon flavored water. Getting there is a bit tricky as there are 2 entrances. Get to level 10 from either inside Orchard Gateway or from the main hotel entrance. The restaurant entrance is actually right outside the elevator which also serves Orchard Gateway. I went in by the other door which was nearer the hotel elevator.

Had Hi Tea buffet here this afternoon — a good spread of western, chinese & japanese. Makan@jen is situated on level 10 of Hotel Jen Orchardgateway. It is a new brand by Shangri-la. After some hustle & bustle down at orchard road, it was good to have escaped to have some quiet moments. As it is new, it was not crowded so it was nice! We had a lot of attention by the attendants and had a great time chatting with them too. Guests are able to go up to level 19 to enjoy the scenary. Hi-tea price is $ 30++ per pax. Currently if you pay by OCBC card, it will be 3 pax for the price of 2 Worth a try.
