This is not your usual Kopitiam. Since it’s located inside Tan Tock Seng Hospital, there are a few differences. First, there is a huge section reserved for hospital workers only. Also, I noticed the menus for some of the stalls highlight certain dishes that are supposed to be healthier alternatives. Hooray for promoting healthy eating! Other than that, the stalls are just like all the other kopitiams around the island. There is a cold dessert stall where I can get my favourite cendol, and although it’ll never be close to the one I fell in love with in Penang, it gets the job done. One of these days, I want to try the Japanese stall, as it looks like they have really affordable bentos(around $ 5.50-$ 7.) The bakery seems to churn out some decent pastries, though some look a bit too sweet and fattening for my liking. I know it seems weird to Unilocal about a kopitiam in a hospital, but as it’s the closest to my apartment, it’s an easy go-to when I’m not in the mood to walk through the hospital to Square 2 or Velocity! As long as you don’t mind being surrounded by hospital patients and staff, this is an a-ok food court overall.
