Oh gosh, how much hokkien mee can one person eat?! Why would you need a $ 15 dollar plate? As it turns out these are questions I would answer this very evening. So I went with the girlfriend and her family — there were 9 of us, and we were hungry. So you see how the $ 15 plate comes in handy? It was impressive to say the least, and with that we ordered a $ 15 plate of orh neng. I can’t call it orh luah, because it wasn’t that at all — it was a thick, tasty omelette with goodness knows how many oysters on top, then generously slathered with an XO sauce. Boy was that tasty! For the carb-hungry(me lah), there was also a plate of seafood fried rice, which had a couple of prawns, and more char siew than seafood, but I can have no complaints when it only cost $ 4! There are loads more options from this stall, and he’s pretty famous too. Mr Kim used to fry his noodles in Eunos and only moved here recently, but still fries noodles in his business shirt and expensive watch. That’s just how he rolls, and despite the glamming up, the proof of how he earned that watch is in the puddin– I mean the noodles.

This is not the wet kind of hokkien mee but the dry one. It’s noodles are golden and cooked just right to be a little chewy. Ingredients are fresh. They have 4 branches and this is the location where the boss personally cooks it, wearing a long sleeve shirt with a Rolex watch on his hand. To some, this is the one of the best hokkien mee you can find in Singapore.
