I love this swimming complex. It was the place where I first discovered the«lazy river». I’ve been visiting here for years as it’s very close to where I stay in Singapore. It’s got pools for young kids with things to climb over, water slides, a wave pool, lazy river and a lap pool and spas. There tables with shelter but when busy you need to arrive early to get them. There’s places to eat and it’s cheap to get into. We visited mainly during the week and or early during the international schools holidays so it wasn’t overly busy. I’ve heard on the weekends and in the afternoons it can get chaotic. Tubes for the water slides and lazy river cost $ 5 for two hours(includes a refundable deposit). If you’re close by its well worth a visit.

When I was a kid, Jurong East Swimming Complex used to be cool, with the water slides, lazy river and wave pool. This was before the now defunct Fantasy Island in Sentosa, Wild Wild Wet in Pasir Ris, and the couple of other swimming complexes in CCK and Sengkang ever existed. What made me look forward even more to visiting the swimming complex was the KFC in the complex which would be the defacto lunch hunt. Expectedly, this place is always crowded during school holidays, flooded by kids who are out for a swim in sunny Singapore. I love lazing around the lazy river(ha!) and just letting the water take me around the park. The wave pool is pretty fun too! Why pay more to go to Wild Wild Wet when you can come to Jurong East Swimming Complex for a fraction of the cost? :) That said, it’s been some time since I last visited… and with the sprouting out of many other newly established water parks, this swimming complex would be considered one of the older and more run down ones. 3 stars, for the good times ;)

For the longest time, public swimming pools were simple — a pool for swimming. There were a few of those in the west but slowly they were being closed down. Then the Jurong East Swimming Complex opened and it was a big deal because it had water slides, wave pools and fun for the kids. Enticed by looking from afar, I finally visited. The horror. the sheer amount of kids means the toilets were unkempt and just nauseating. Couldnt get out of there fast enough and never to return ever again.
