Started off OK when I first started coming in mid-2014. Recently, turns out to be the worst barbershop experience I can imagine. The staff are rude, shout and swear, and, I’m not making this up, sleep in front of waiting customers on the barber chair, facing towards the waiting customers. No joke! Last three experiences: 1. Staff shouting and swearing ‘c***’ etc. Also botched my cut, wasn’t symmetrical at all. Lengths at the temples were wrong. 2. Turned up at 6:40pm, they close at 8pm. Was turned away because half their staff weren’t working because they were attending an event unrelated to barbering. 3. Came back the following day, waited 1h 15m, was next in the queue, and one of the guys decided to take a 20~30 minute sleep on the barber chair, facing the waiting customers, with his hat covering his eyes. I don’t know what kind of fantasy these guys are living in. Karma will soon catch up with them.

This guys are the worst barber shop experience I’ve ever had in my 29 years. I come in yesterday(Sept 21st2015) before closing which is 8pm and they say come tomorrow. I come today(Sept 22nd2015) at 6:45pm and there are 3 guys waiting. I went and came back at 7:20pm with two empty chairs and at least two barbers who don’t want to take me in, saying they need to clean up!!! Then why do they say they work until 8pm?! Isn’t it normal that you accept customers until the end of working hours and then do your cleaning later. In all the shops around the world is like this. Except with this smartasses. Not to mention that they don’t accept reservations! Only walk in. What am I supposed to do, come 10 days in a row, go out from work at 5pm and hope there will be no other customers before me, cause they have to start CLEANING at 7pm !? Horrible experience, avoid by any means.

I come here every time I’m in Singapore. By far one of the best barbershops I’ve ever seen and I travel a lot. Very professional and the service is impeccable. Truly a gentleman’s barbershop.

Shave: 0 stars if possible; terrible! Boyfriend had to get shaved twice bc first shave wasn’t «clean»(second shave didn’t even use shave cream and shaved him dry w the blade) and left with many cuts and bleeding. Haircut: 1 star cut was well done but he was also cut slightly behind his ear Service: doesn’t exist. Rude and pompous staff. Manager Jasper also asked me to not sit in the back, despite no one in there and waiting. Originally told me because I was a woman but then when I asked if it was policy he said no and took it back saying only customers could come in and sit down. Then another barber told me it was men only and it’s been their policy since opening. They need to get their story straight, regardless of male only or not.

I’ve actually heard of this place long time back but havent got a chance to step into this old school barber shop. Previously, I frequent qb express cut a lot since it’s convenient, cheap and hassle free. But with the price you pay(SGD12), of course you only get the certain type of streotype haircut. Nothing more. The Hounds of Baskervilles(HoB) is Singapore’s answer to Jimmy Rod’s or Emporium Barbershop in Brisbane. I’ve visited both Jimmy Rod’s and Emporium while living in Brisbane the last 4 months so upon coming back, it’s high time to pay this local guys a visit and see if they can walk the walk. First of all, HoB does not take reservation so it’s either you come off peak period(weekdays 2−4pm) or be prepared to wait. I came on a Wednesday afternoon and have to wait for 30 mins, which is not too bad considering there were 5 people in front of me before my turn. I walked in towards the counter to get more information of the cut and felt that that dude was a bit cold and arrogant. He told me I have to wait for an hour and when I said I’ll come back tomorrow morning, he said the queue will be the same as well. You don’t talk to customer like that. Apart from the bad experience the minute I walked in, the crew was busy at work and I can see why the business is so good. They know their stuffs and the skills to flaunt. The barber who cut my hair is a young indian dude(sorry did not get his name) is good and efficient. The hair cut experience ended with a warm towel shave. Good stuffs! I paid $ 30 for a haircut here and will definitely come back.

Stopped in for a quick trim before starting our adventure in Singapore. Totally hipster and slightly grunge, this place is totally retro with young locals with skinny jeans, waxed mustaches and horn rimmed glasses using straight edged razors and sharpened scissors to bring my hair back into acceptable standards. The staff is friendly and good at their art. Highly recommended for a dapper fix up before exploring the area. Bring cash if you don’t have a ‘chip and pin’.
