Cold Beer by the riverside. Pretty good chicken wings. Tiny orange short shorts. What’s not to like? If yer looking for gourmet, this ain’t the place. Keep your expectations realistic, and you’ll have a good time.

Tried the fried pickles and not a fan as I’m not really into really sour things. However, they have delicious chicken wings and chicken strips although service was disappointing. I find some waiters there are not friendly enough, I mean come on, it’s an American restaurant, at least try to smile more! I guess I’m just a sucker for friendly waiters in restaurants. Most of the servers are above average looking and mostly from the Philippines, so if you are into exotic looking girls, this is a place to go for to eat with eye candies around. Lychee beer was awesome though! I’ll only be back for chicken strips and probably not soon enough.

In conservative Singapore a «Hooters»… this must go wrong. While other Hooters can point on the«view», this one has only the same rubbish, overprized food as any cheap, downtown Burger spot. Service is not great either. There is nothing more to say and there are better choices just few meters away

Food was ok, not good. But when I asked to swap a potato salad for French fries on a Ham&cheese sandwich I was told not possible as French fries is a side order. They are booth potatoes. One is dip fried and the other has mayo. What is the big deal? Very poor customer service on my book. Won’t be coming back.

I’ve had the rib eye steak… it wasn’t that good(small and a little bit rough) The place has a happy hour where you order 2 glasses if tiger bear and get the third one for free Location is excellent with excellent vibe

I was walking around the area when I ran into Hooters. It is not quite what I expected to see. I was not sure how this American concept would take flight in Asia. I decided to give it a try. The inside looks like many of Hooter restaurant I have been all over the US. The chicken wings, the staples of Hooters, were OK. It did not remind me of home. Service was OK but I have learned that it can be hit or miss depending on time of day, how busy it is, and how rowdy the crowd is. I am not sure if I would go back as there other places I would rather eat at if I was this far away from home.

We had lunch there today. The non-local girl who served us are in shorts and sleeveless top. She was friendly and serve us with a smile. We had the lunch promotion with additional top up with S$ 2+ to get a tea/coffee and ice cream. Another non local girl served us, who is wearing a white tshirt with jeans, was a tad unfriendly with a little attitude. As she served our ice cream, one of the cup slip and the ice cream fall on the tray. She pick it up and put a side. Then we told her we want the ice cream to be take-away. She then left the ice cream at the counter outside the outdoor(as we were seated outside) and went to the kitchen to pick up the container. Then when she came out, I approach her and asked if she is changing the ice cream since was it fell on the tray, she replied«THETRAYISCLEAN». And I said, yes but it fall on the tray and it is unhygienic. She kept repeating«but the tray is CLEAN». I demand her to change 3x before she bring the ice cream into the kitchen unwillingly. First of all, she left the ice cream outdoor and went to the kitchen to pick up the container and intend to put our ice cream into the container outside is already not so right. The ice cream is melting outside while she takes her time to the kitchen and come back. 2nd she accidentally drop the ice cream, the tray may be clean, but shouldn’t she change a new one since it was her fault? And how we know how clean is the tray? Excuse me, we pay for the service charge, is the way how the food should be treated?

I remember coming here when I was a kid with my dad and his co workers. I was not sure how Singaporeans would take this American idea of scantly clad women in tacky orange and white uniforms. Lets be honest here… nothing is spicy as we would like it to be compared to normal Singaporean fare. If anything it is to experience beer and wings while watching sports on TV. Then, later on ask yourself, «wah lao, this is how Americans spend time watching sports? no wonder why they are so big». Just enjoy some good fried food and cold beer. Also, enjoy the ladies hitting on your and flirting as they are required to. One time I was there an a Saturday night. there was a contest involving strapping a dart board to my butt and someone tries to hit a bulls eye for free beer. Best time ever. We did not win but we did get a hula hoop contest for a free pint as consolation. Oh, those were the good old days. A big plus is the eating by the river. that is nice…

So, I just got my dependent’s pass.(Hooray for now being a legal local resident!) To celebrate being an American in Singapore, I decided to make a beeline from the Ministry of Manpower to one of Singapore’s «American concept restaurants” — Hooters. BECAUSE I’M AWESOMELIKETHATERMAGERDDON’T JUDGEME. This Hooters is very well situated in Clarke Quay, and is probably tourist infested at night. Lunch in the middle of the week is pretty quiet, though. I looked through their lunch specials but I just thought they were weird. I know they have to cater to the local crowd, but a part of me thinks it’s strange to order prawn spaghetti from Hooters, of all places. But if you like that stuff, you’re in luck, as $ 10 will get you an entrée, soft drink and ice cream. And if you want beer with that, it will only be an extra $ 5! I was craving their wings so I ordered 10 of ‘em. Still as good as I remembered it. And to remind myself I’m in Singapore, I made sure to have a Tiger beer to go along with it. The girls are cute, all Asian(of course) and none of them have muffin tops. So that’s cool. Hooters SG, you’re a-ok in my book. :)

The food is pretty much the same as any other Hooters — good beer selection, fried pickles are great, and the wings are good(although they seem to be a bit skinnier than in the US). Speaking of skinny, there is also just a bit of a difference in the staff between the Hooters in Singapore, and one of the locations such as Atlanta, GA or other southern US states. Must be something in the water…

I had some friends take me to Hooters restaurants in the US a couple of times, and the wings were all the rage — seriously folks, people were eating them like they were just told that chicken wings would no longer exist after tomorrow. Then I came home to our sunny little island, and while Hooters had been here a while, I never had the inclination to go, but when my then boss said he’d buy us lunch there, I was quietly excited… for the wings(yes, I can be serious about my wings). We get there, and everyone gets a super affordable set lunch(12 bucks for apps, a main and a coffee/tea), and I get… wings. People gave me the looks they reserve for smelly hobos on trains, but hey. These were Hooters wings we’re talking about. Post consumption of wings, I was a little non-plussed. Them wings were wayyyy better in those US stores; perhaps I had brought home unrealistic(inflated?) expectations — I’d remembered seeing Hooters differently. Maybe the beer goggles helped.

The girls aside, hooter’s does serve some tasty drumlets and wings. It depends though how you like your buffalo wings. If you’re a fan of the barbequed ones, this one’s not for you. Hooter’s wings are deep fried and lathered with a tangy buffalo sauce. You can get blue cheese dressing(my favourite) as your dip. It’s pretty pricey for such wings but sometimes when you have the kind of craving that makes the corners of your mouth sweat for some spicy tangy buffalo wings, you can’t go wrong with hooter’s. They have set lunches that go from as low as $ 10 for a main course, drink and a scoop of ice-cream. But having lunch here is a vastly different ambience from having dinner in the evening. It’s quieter and much less crowded, all the more to enjoy your food!

I was out with a bunch of boys one evening and they were pretty psyched about checking Hooters out. Being the only girl and totally outnumbered, I went along. We were greeted by waitresses in low cut tops and short shorts(hence its name). They were surprisingly rude and snappy and according to my guy friends(not very hooter material). We got chicken wings, curly fries and fried pickles to share. The chicken wings are their specialty but they were nothing spectacular. They were tasty but there was no punch to it that made any of us go «wow». Their curly fries were not great either, and you can probably get the same thing frozen from the supermarket. Their fried pickles, however were pretty awesome! Its surprisingly addictive and was not as sour as I thought it would be. Overall, the food and service there is not great but if you happen to drop by hooters, do not miss out on their fried pickles!

Hot. Naked. Chicks. This was how I was taught to order buffalo wings at Hooters. What this refers to is the level of heat(hot: not that spicy lah) and the thickness of batter(naked: not very much at all). We like a mixture of wings and drumlets, but your preference might differ. That’s pretty much all I eat at Hooters, really, those and the deep fried pickle chips. Strange before I ever tried one, but they really are addictive. They also do set lunches for the office crowd, but it feels a bit wrong that a place known for their wings don’t put them on the set lunch menu?

Fried pickles. I am seriously addicted. So many times I have walked past Hooters at Clark Quay, and each time its the same slightly sleazy and uncomfortable impression that we get from the voluptuous ladies wearing neon orange hot pants. But a friend who is one of the most demure people I know told me to give the fried pickles a try, so I finally did once as a before-beer-snack. HOOKED. Perfectly hot salty and crispy bite-sized pieces, with a juicy sliced pickle encased inside. There isn’t any tangy taste like those we scrape out from our cheeseburgers, but there is still the unmistakable pickled cucumber taste. Goes perfect with an Erdinger and soccer on the TVs! Many happy and contented night has since been spent at Hooters with the boyfriend cheering for our team. Do try their Buffalo Wings too! Comes in a range of spiciness levels, but we recommend the Hot. Just don’t inhale too close to the fumes, they add vinegar to the batter sauce — a potent mix!
