New branch at Taka — the sushi chef was away that day and we couldn’t try their sushi but sashimi and other warm dishes were nice. We sat in a room with the new greenery across from Ngee Ann city and service was sufficient. The sushi bar is a big feature and I would recommend booking a table for a spectacle. An excellent set up and recommend for both date nights or group dinner.

I have been here twice and always during lunch so I can only comment on the lunch special. It is certainly very affordable for lunch(generally $ 18-$ 20) as it includes the main(2 choices of chirashi and other types of don), salad, miso soup and dessert(pudding). The salad is refreshing with the light Japanese dressing. Chirashi don has plenty of fish/seafood over slightly warm rice. Miso soup is also light, not too salty, with a good ratio of broth and wakame and tofu cubes. Dessert for the day is chocolate pudding which is delish. Good way to end the meal. They do not take reservations but so far it is never that busy on a Saturday afternoon so no issues with getting a table. Maybe people find the lunch menu limited since there are only 7 items available. Since I love chirashi and the price is good, I will certainly be back again. If only the location is not that inconvenient to me.

At last, a Japanese restaurant that doesn’t disappoint. This place is not cheap, but the lunch sushi specials($ 18-$ 20) are exceptionally affordable and good enough for someone like me who’s been deprived of authentic Japanese food. The fresh cuts of sashimi and perfectly seasoned rice can easily satisfy my craving, and the dessert is something to look forward to as well. The private tatami rooms are great for large groups. The service is painfully slow — and I almost want to deduct a star for this — but the food makes up for it. SUM: To be updated — we need to go for the special course dinner and experience the French influence that this restaurant is known for.

Almost everything here says premium. Have been here a few times, I must say every time I’m not disappointed by the quality of food, especially the sashimi, very fresh. The amount of japanese who visit this place says it all, makes you feel you are back in Japan. There’s articles stating they import their seafood from Japan directly, which explain the high quality and taste they have. The ambience is really nice throughout the restaurant, with some VIP rooms available if you reserve in advance. This is not exactly an «affordable» place as a normal meal can set you back nearly $ 200 for two, at least this what my bills says at the end of the day every time. The service isn’t exactly«Japanese» standard either, not to says its bad, but if you have been to restaurants in Japan you’ll get what i mean. Overall I really love this place and would always come back again for something special, highly recommended!!!

4 stars = I’m a fan, but I won’t be back too often. Here’s why. It certainly feels authentic and the clientele is reportedly authentic Japanese homesick for REAL Japanese. The pricing is also out of Japan so expect fully priced Japanese food but you also get what you pay for in good quality whole fish served up in multiple ways. Choose the whole fish, flown in from Japan on alternate days. Each fish is about $ 80 and up… in my opinion not unreasonable when compared with eating live fish from a good Chinese restaurant. The lunch sets are good value. Pick from 5 items for $ 20 and expect a high quality good value set lunch.
