This store has been here for quite awhile but normally I skipped it as my grandpa used to have durian seller that always go to his house. It has been awhile since the durian season started and I have yet eaten durian fleshes for awhile so I decided to buy it from here since I was on the way home after dinner around the corner. At the showcase area, there are packed durians in styrofoam boxes and you could pick one of the three choices available. I always go for Mao Shan Wang and hence got a box of it for $ 20. Not sure whether it is considered costly or not. Reached home and let the durian stay in the fridge for a day before consuming it. Surprisingly it was pretty good. The flesh is more sweet than bitter. When buying durian, look for whether it is wet or not. Too wet means that it is spoilt. And the more yellowish flesh, the sweeter it is. Definitely a good spot to grab some durians in the Bukit Timah area. Accessible by bus and MRT in the future. Will be back for more goodness :)

A must have tourist experience. Force durians down the throats of your guests. Bukit Timah Road is not known for being down to earth, one of Singapore’s most expensive property stretches that’s home to many of the mega rich most of the shops here try to be a little haughty. Not this one. this store is all heart, it’s got a good local feel and is not trying to impress anyone. Durian Lingers Sticks out like a welcome sore thumb. It’s really good to see that you can get durian pretty much all year round from here, eat in or take away. For the durian haters, this store also sells a good variety of other fruits. Everything’s fresh and they know their durian. I’ve never eaten a lousy durian here and I’m fussy about my durians!

If you love durian, but hate the bustle and tumult of good ol’ Geylang, then this is the place for you. The attractiveness of this shop far exceeds its modest shopfront: the layout is spacious, the place well-lit and ventilated, the premise a raucous parade of fresh fruits. Although I rarely ever dine-in(I prefer eating my durian in front of the TV), it is no surprise that the comfortable setting coupled with ample parking space draws a consistent crowd mainly of families and couples, especially on weekends. This place is not only a hit with the locals– on several occasions I have even witnessed expat families making trips down to enjoy their durian fix. Perhaps the best part about this establishment is how clean it feels– the tables are always wiped down, the thrash is always cleared before our animal friends find their way to it, and there are proper, functional washbasins so that you never leave with that nagging sticky feeling. For non-mandarin speakers, the waitstaff also converse fairly well in English, making the experience a lot smoother for non-chinese Singaporeans and foreigners. Most importantly, their durian is always of consistent quality: I’ve never tried the mao shan wang(not a fan), but for all the times I’ve had the D24, the durian was exactly how I like it– bittersweet, thick creamy flesh with a firm texture. Of course, for those of you who like your durian more bitter or sweet– they carry a large enough variety to cater to your individual preferences. Even for non-durian lovers, this place carries a fairly huge selection of fresh tropical fruits to make it worth your visit. While I have never bought anything besides durian, I have heard fellow patrons praising the good quality of their mangosteens. The prices are also pretty reasonable and more or less fixed, which saves you the trouble of haggling. All in all, this is a great place for a hassle-free durian tasting experience!
