It was one of the most crazy thing i saw in Singapore: The wine cave is a complete wall, and you see a girl on a trapeze elevator going all the ways of it to take the bottles, it’s totally a architectural folie but i loved it! It took us by surprise because we went there without idea of the place… The wine is really expensive(i’m french so it’s a bit insane for us) but the cocktails are 22dollars, 10 for casual drinks(martini, vodka, wisky,…), and 6 for soft so ok it’s expensive but for the place it’s a really a good deal. All the bar is art deco style, it changes for Singapore, Thanks! And an other good point, they are really not pretentious with dresscode and too much chichi things, even if they are playing it.

Went on a Saturday night of a long weekend to catch up with friends. tl;dr: Gimmicky, drinks are average, though not what I’d pay for the quality I got. The atmosphere is divine, but that’s about it. Overall score: 2.6÷5 — rounded down to 2⁄5 as I’ve had plenty better. For what I was informed was«one of the top five bars in Singapore», I was less than impressed. — Atmosphere — First of all — wow. The whole get-up of the entire bar is breathtaking. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but the moment you step in, you feel as though you’ve been transported to somewhere more baroque in Europe. Above the lone bar(which, I might add, looks small for such a large space, though I think it feels that way just because tables are really spread out), a veritable tower of glass with wine bottles stretches to the ceiling. However, you have to remember that this in the middle of North Bridge road with not much else going on, and there’s a construction site right opposite the entrance with immigrant workers hanging around in groups. Furthermore, the bar is in an office building — it probably caters to the post-work crowd, not weekend warriors. Score: 3.5÷5 — Food/Drinks — While yes, it is a wine bar, I was not aware of that fact prior to arriving, and had ordered a Singapore Sling. I didn’t expect much from it, given that it wasn’t the Raffles Hotel. I admit that it’s not the easiest or most common drink to make, but as its the most recognizable Singaporean drink, I expect that a bar in Singapore that puts it on their menu can make a fairly decent one. The concoction I received tasted like sugar water. Too much grenadine syrup had been poured into it, and I could barely taste any of the gin, pineapple, and lime that makes a hallmark of a gin sling, which a Singapore Sling is a variation of. At $ 20 to $ 24 a pop for one drink, this was shoddy quality. I could get much better elsewhere. Score: 2⁄5 — Service — I had arrived late, and our table’s server was attentive enough to come over to ask for my order after I’d closed my menu. That said, given that there were maybe three servers for as many tables, I don’t expect any less. Additionally, they were able to split checks for the three of us at the table, which I appreciated. Score: 3⁄5 — Miscellaneous — A server attached to a harness connected to a pulley and a rail mounted to the ceiling allows them to «fly» up like an angel to retrieve bottles. In my opinion, this is the only thing special that the bar has going on — it flat out smacks of gimmickery. Their last call for orders was just around midnight, and the entire bar had maybe 3 other tables of pairs aside from us, which surprised me for a Saturday night of a long weekend where other bars were fully booked out. Score: 2⁄5

OK… I’m feeling the peer pressure here to go five stars just from looking at the previous reviews, so I’ll just say it straight out. WINEISREALLYEXPENSIVEINSINGAPORE. Turns out that alcohol is pretty heavily taxed here, so consider what you WANT to pay, add in what you typically are MADE to pay(in a US restaurant or bar) then tack on another«Hey, you’re in Singapore» surcharge, and that’s WHAT you pay.(Others have commented on the reasonable price point. My vitriol is probably due to the fact that I don’t hang out at NYC wine bars.) Now that I have that out of my system, I have to agree with the previous reviewers that the place is one of the recent wonders of the world.(I remember back when Trump Tower in NYC was the thing!) Art deco meets Sisteen Chapel done in carpet mosaic is probably the most apt description for this palatial space with a flying wine fairy. Since I didn’t buy a whole bottle of wine, I missed the fun of seeing the wine fairy do her thing. If I had a do over, I would definitely have gone for that, especially after inspecting the trapeze device that would lift her 100′ to what I suspect are the $ 2000 wines.(My money would have had her hovering inches above the bar!) But it truly is a see it to believe it sort of place. A perfect stop at the end of the day when your dogs are barkin’, and you’ve pretty much sweat yourself to dehydration. And oh, on that point, you can’t order table water here. You buy the bottle, or you go thirsty. That’s the lifestyle of the rich and famous — I guess.

This place, really is a «must see» for any visitors to Singapore. For a start it is on the ground level of one of Singapore’s most unique buildings. Referred to by many as «The Batman Building». That is usually enough to give the taxi driver sufficient directions. Although the building was completed in 2002 as the last project of a Taiwanese tycoon, inside and out it resembles a building from a different century. Think Chrysler building or Rockefeller Center in New York. Be sure to visit the courtyard outside as well. Anyway, enough on the building, the Divine wine occupies the ground level, with plenty of space between tables. At one end is an elaborated equipped coffee bar with room on the top for a jazz trio to play. The wine bar itself occupies the other end, and seen for the first time, the three storey tall wine cabinet makes you immediately think, how do they get those bottles of wine? The answer is a slice of elegantly entertaining genius. With a Wine Fairy of course! Suitably attired and attached to a trapeze, the fairy elegantly flies up to collect the wine before returning to earth with the wine. Photographs are generally not permitted inside the building, although this seems to be overlooked when the fairy flies. Prices are good by Singapore standards and certainly worth purchasing a bottle to see the fairy fly.

This place is something else. As the other reviews described, it is straight out of The Great Gatsby. Visit for more information on the history and ambiance. Divine Wine is located at Parkview Square Lobby on North Bridge Road and definitely worth a visit if you are up for spending at the least $ 85/bottle of wine. We ordered the Lunta Malbec and were very pleased with the wine, but more so the entire experience. Our service was phenomenal and there really is a server dressed in a fairy outfit that hooks up to a harness to go retrieve your bottle from the vault. It’s worth the wait. Our service was as expected for a joint of this caliber. We went before dinner, but now know that it is better to go after dinner on the weekends because they have a live piano bar starting at 9:30 pm that allows you to make requests. This is right up my ally! We’ll definitely be back for special occasions.

Art Deco enthusiasts, prepare to have your senses assaulted with the intensity of an 88 mm field gun. Thanks to a Taiwanese Tycoon, the late Mr. C. S. Hwang, in the middle of nowhere in the context of post-modern Singapore, you will discover a singular«Gotham-esce» edifice. NYC’s Chanin Building(1929) is said to be the inspiration. If you go on a Friday or Saturday night you might even see flying fairies and that is before you have seen the bottom of your first cocktail. Life is full of surprises, you will not see this building mentioned in the typical top-10 things to do in Singers — no idea why — well maybe I do, but as that wonderfully sultry pre-WW2 swedish actress once said — «somethings are left best unsaid».

If I explain it, you won’t believe it. A rich Taiwanese tycoon decides to build an office park in downtown Singapore. A tall dark tower with a courtyard. Outside are bronze effigies of great thinkers, artists, and writers. Inside the lobby space, covering the whole of the first floor is a piano bar with a 15 m vaulted, gilded(in paint I hope), ceiling. If you hang out too much outside or try to take photos inside, a guard will swiftly whisk you away off site. There are a few office people hanging around but it seems mostly empty(but it’s rumored a few embassies are in this building). There is a three story wine tower behind the bar. When a customer orders a bottle of wine, one of the waitresses, dressed as a silver angel/fairy with wings, clips via harness to a mechanical pulley which flies her up floating stochastically up the aerial tower of wine to the location for her to pull the bottle and store it in a tiny satchel. Then she’s safely air-lifted down back behind the bar and, after unclipping, takes the bottle to your table. Like I said… you won’t believe it and I’ve illustrated no exaggeration here, but it’s on my top 5 things to see on the island of Sin.
