Tom Yang soup with coconut milk is spicy and refreshing. Thai Green Curry Chicken — so creamy with the right spice. Pineapple rice is good. Thai Fish cakes are nothing to die to for — that is just me though. My friend like it for some reason. To me it is not so flavourful — just full of spice and flour. The stir-fried kangkong is nice and spicy. The basil chicking is is also great. Yeah, we had a feast there and I liked everything except the fish cakes. And the price and portion is great too!

Huge portions, tasty food, and reasonable prices given the portions, but my stomach started feeling funny less than halfway through the meal, and the aftermath wasn’t pretty. Maybe it was all the coconut milk in the soup and the chendol(which was delicious unfortunately, but on the sweet side).

Tucked away in this Thai ground zero mall(Golden Mile Complex) is this gem of a restaurant. It has a huge menu so you may want to do some research before you get there. I selected the clear Tom Yam soup which was rich in taste and had multiple types of seafood in it. Great start. I followed it up with stir fried pork in oyster sauce and pineapple rice, both of which were delicious. I washed it all down with lemongrass tea which was tasty but not too strong.

I’m torn. Surprisingly, I like the ambiance of this place. It’s located within Golden Mile Complex, which is this old school building with a lot of Thai businesses. It’s a bit seedy by Singapore standards, but I like it! I felt like I stepped back in time and that I was actually in Thailand. I ordered the small portion of the basil chicken for $ 6. It was really spicy and well-portioned for the price. It was spicy enough that I needed to order 2 Thai iced teas! The reason I leave this at 3 is because I have a sneaking suspicion that my basil chicken had a lot of MSG in it*. My body reacts very strongly to MSG; in addition to feeling extremely dehydrated, I also feel like I’m wide awake and have trouble falling asleep, which is what happened to me after eating here. Because of this, I’m not too inclined to return so soon. :(Maybe I’ll just have some Thai iced teas? – *I’ve noticed that I’ve only experienced these side effects after dining at Thai establishments in SG, not so much Chinese. I can say that so far, the most legit Thai place here that most likely doesn’t use MSG is Jane Thai in Orchard Towers.

I just didn’t enjoy my meal here. Understandably, perhaps their more traditional dishes are where their strengths lie, I ordered the $ 6 chicken pad Thai and $ 6 crab fried rice. Net-net, it just kind of tastes like fast food of the Thai food world. Ingredients were far from fresh and it just tasted subpar to say the least. The bean sprouts which accompanied the pad thai looked dry and brown and the chicken had the skin left on(unusual for pad Thai) and honestly had a questionable texture… don’t think I’ll be returning.

For lunch, I started with the Mango Salad, which I didn’t really care for. The flavor was a little overpowering. The Pad Thai was decent, but didn’t stand out. I have had better. The service was good. I would try another place before going back.

You know the food’s gonna be good when the place is packed and you hear Thai being spoken. The pomelo salad was quite memorable… perfect balance of flavors and refreshing.

Chap and tasty! Walked into this place randomly, and with low expectations. The venue is very simple… Just when i set down, i realized i was the only non-Asia(which I thought was a good sign). We ordered the tom yam soup and a fish(sea bass, i think) in lemon sauce. Both great! Plus, their mango sticky rice to finish up. Will be back for more – of all, but mostly the fish! :-)

Cheap, tasty, reminds me of actually being in thailand — down to the ladyboys and shady thai discos next door… I don’t think you can ask for more! Unless we could get thai massage for 150 baht somewhere nearby… Can we? Anyway, my favorite dish here has got to be the beef noodle. Yummy! They also open pretty late, so i’ve pretty much frequented this place in inebriated state and declaring how tasty everything is. But don’t worry, i’ve been here sober as well and it’s still good.

If you’re a fan of Thai Cuisine, one of the best places to try here in Singapore is the Diandin Leluk Restaurant @ Lavender. Being at the center of Thai Community(Golden Mile Complex), this place can definitely compete against the many fancy Thai restaurants here in terms of taste and authenticity. Must tries: Green curry chicken, Pandan Chicken, and Pineapple rice. My rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Pad Thai($ 4) was great! Pretty huge portion for $ 4. and there were 4 prawns. Chicken lap salad($ 8) fairly spicy, not bad too. Fairly large portion. Nam prik kapi with pla thu($ 10) as recommended by Hungrygowhere article on best Thai food in Singapore. This consist of a bunch of assorted steamed veges(broccoli; cauliflower; kai lan; long beans; some gourd of some sort; lady’s finger) and a piece of fish(mackerel? not sure.) with some sort of chilli paste that was somewhat belachan like. Kind of salty! Dad loved it. Anyway, this is definitely something different, haven’t seen it in other Thai places before. Thai otah($ 10 for 4 pcs) not bad, pretty huge pieces too. We were pretty full by the time this arrived and could only share one between the 3 of us, brought the rest back. Haha.

Baan Khanitha, an upscale establishment in Bangkok that has been around for years, serves up the best Thai food I’ve ever had, but Diandin Leluk takes the cake for the best I’ve had in Singapore. Tried and true, I hear Diandin Leluk has been around for ages. The food here is excellent, and I think eating in the Golden Mile complex is an experience to be had for anyone visiting or living in Singapore. The restaurant is always packed, but it has never been hard for me to get a table, even with a party of four or more. In addition to some of the dishes reviewers have already mentioned, we really enjoy the pineapple rice. The spicy curry dishes will make you sweat, but they’re worth it! Give Diandin Leluk a try any time – you can’t go wrong here.

In the Thai food heaven that is Golden Mile complex, Diandin is probably the best I’ve tried. While some of the smaller restaurants might be just as satisfying, I think Diandin uses better quality ingredients. Prices are also really reasonable. I’ve been going to this restaurant since i was a kid and it is always packed. Of course you have to order the Tom Yum which is really authentic. Some of the other classic choices are Green Curry and Thai Fish Cakes. I haven’t tried a lot on the menu since I usually order the same things, but everything I’ve seen there looks pretty good. It’s definitely worth the trip to Golden Mile, especially when compared to the choice of lackluster Thai establishments you find in the shopping malls.

Fortunately Golden Mile isn’t too far from where I live, and often this is the place I’ll go to when craving Thai food in Singapore. Diandin Leluk, is one of only two places I’ll normally eat in this place. Lunch and dinner times always has the restaurant packed out with Thais, which is obviously a good sign. The foods rather authentic in technique and flavor, though the menu is large, it lacks a little bit of imagination and just lists and array of well-known Thai staples. Nevertheless, the Pad Thai is very good, and good value for money considering the amount of decent quality prawns that are packed into this. Service is sufficient for the sorta money you’ll fork out in this place. Desserts shouldn’t be skipped here, and nothing beats an icy and refreshing bowl of their Thai red ruby to finish a meal here. Been here at least a dozen times, not the sort of place I’d go to looking for an amazing gourmet feast, though straight forward consistent Thai food.

Golden Mile is filled with Thai food joints and it’s difficult to discern which one’s good. But since my friend works in the area, she has tried most of the restaurants and found this one to be the best. Went there one night and over ordered as usual(a consistent trend when I have Thai meals). The Phad Thai that I had was very authentic. Sweet and sour, this phad thai was also rather moist and contained more prawns that I had expected(more than five). Note that the peanuts come in a separate container so you can choose how much you wish to add to your dish. The Tom Yam Soup was a fiery concoction, which was unfortunate as my spicy tolerance is rather meek. Still, I managed to gulp down a few mouthfuls which I felt was quite salty. Best tried with a glass of iced Thai milk tea by your side. Tried a bit of my friend’s fried vermicelli and it was good — tasted completely different from the phad thai even though it seems to be cooked with the same ingredients. Instead of sweet and sour, the vermicelli was more aromatic because of the dark soya sauce added to it. I might order this in the future. We decided to order a few sides — fried crab/fish balls and something none of us had tried before — minced chicken and prawn paste with a salted egg core. The picture of the second dish had looked quite promising. But… it tasted exactly the same as the crab/fish balls. The salted egg yolk taste was not strong at all. All in all, a decent place for Thai food. Writing about it has made me hungry for more Thai food!
