I love«tong sui» and this place doesn’t disappoint! Located in a big plaza in the heart of Chinatown, this place was pretty busy on a Monday afternoon. They have a wide variety of hot and cold desserts and I, being my indecisive self took quite some time to decide b/c I wanted to try them all! It’s ok, because my friend took twice as long. Haha. I finally settled on the yam paste w/black glutinous rice and gingko nuts while my friend had the almond paste w/snow fungus. Our desserts came out promptly upon ordering, and they collected the money right on the spot. I don’t know about my friend’s since I don’t like almond paste or snow fungus, but my dessert was yumsss. The yam complimented the black glutinous rice quite well, and it was like having 2 desserts in one bowl. My only complaint is that the ratio wasn’t half-half like pictured. I had way more yam paste than black glutinous, so next time I’ll def remember to ask for more. All in all, great deal in Chinatown, as usual.

I love hot traditional Chinese desserts in a bowl! We had the yam paste with black glutinous rice and gingko nuts($ 3) which was a great mix of sweet and gingko(i dont even know how to describe the taste of it — perhaps a tad bitter-sweet) I know some people dont really like Gingko nuts but I love it. I also had the almond and sesame paste, white and black mixing into one was most enjoyable to watch. Very silky and it goes smoothly down your throat. I heard it has health benefits too! They also serve other traditional desserts such as Mango Sago, and peanut paste etc.
