Cold Storage just off Orchard Road is a nice and neatly organized grocery store that stocks most of the items one would need when it comes to food. There is a nice meat and fish section as well as nicely presented fruits and vegetables. The store also has a lot of staff available in case there are questions. As often is the case in grocery stores in Singapore prices are often not clear(wrong price and/or product on the shelf) and this has happened several times to me at this specific Cold Storage(like the discussion that I had when I took avocados from a box with a price clearly marked and was then charged 5 times that priced and when I complained was just told that it was the wrong product there). The store is however still ok and as most products are fresh I do buy stuff here now and then and the really good thing about the store is also that they are open 24⁄7.

I shop at Fair Price and Cold Storage for groceries in Singapore. Fair Price is my go to for fruits and vegetables because they are nearly always 1⁄3 of the price. That being said, you’re more likely to get a good avocado at Cold Storage. Cold Storage is my where I grab my specialty items, such as 70% dark chocolate, buckwheat noodles(so Paleo!), canned solid albacore tuna in water, frozen chicken tenderloins, pineapple sausage, natural nut butters, specific cleaning supplies and a few other odds and ends. The location is convenient and the staff is fairly prompt and helpful. The store is clean and well-organized. I’d recommend it to other Westerners looking for their comforts of home.

A minute of silence for my beloved Fairprice Finest that rolled its shutters down for good. But! In its place has birthed Cold Storage! Somehow the set up looks roomier, brighter, and seems to stock all the hoity toity brands. And the kicker– a salad counter that has an opening promo of salad and three toppings for $ 4.99. Full of win. They’ve a pretty big selection of Australian imported sweet things like mud cakes, lamingtons and all. Which actually tastes good, not like the dry paper weights I was expecting. And to christen my first shopping experience, I even got myself a single egg frying pan. Just because they had it, and just because I can. More grocery shopping goodness to come!
