This is a review of a solo lunch at Chef Kenny. i wanted a fast lunch but I didn’t want to eat at my desk. I had noticed Chef Kenny in Plaza 8 and that it usually had tables open. I guess I should have taken the hint. When I arrived, an almost surly woman pointed me to a seat in the far corner. She was also my server. She was not friendly, at all. She did not even exhibit normal politeness. Plus, after I ordered, she made it pretty clear that I would not receive my food until I had paid. The ambiance is very basic and utilitarian. It has a bit of an unkempt feel to it. Plus, there were flies buzzing around my table. It wasn’t dirty though. It just all seemed to of had better days. The Menu: Golden Chicken Cutlet Set Menu — This came with the cutlet, side of fries, small salad, soup, and a drink. The cutlet itself was pretty good. it was crispy on the outside. The chicken was tender on the inside. There wasn’t an overly oily flavor. The portion was generous. It was hot. This cutlet is what saved Chef Kenny from getting a one star review. The fries were overcooked and cold. Plus, there weren’t very many of them. The salad was basic but the ingredients were fresh. The soup had some unfortunate lumps in it. But, for a simple mushroom soup, it tasted pretty good. For the beverage, I ordered a honey lemon drink but I received a can of Pepsi. I wasn’t going to mess with the surly server though and I just wanted to get through my lunch. So, I joyfully stuck with the Pepsi. Receipt($ 10.80): Overall, poor service, mediocre ambiance, and so so food didn’t inspire any desire to return. It was fast though.
