This is the kind of restaurant I would not have tried on y own. But I was lucky to be brought here by a friend who knows the chef well and we enjoyed a Christmas dinner here. Cold Pasta with grilled prawns — I was a little apprehensive about cold pasta but as a starter dish, it was refreshing and light. The prawns were grilled perfectly and super tasty. Lobster Bisque — nice thick soup, piping hot, served out of a tea cup. Delicious! Beef Steak — its a thick medallion that is nicely seared on the outside but pink and juicy on the inside. Lava Cake — Good molten cake with soft inside, beautifully coupled with vanilla ice cream. It’s not a cheap dinner so only for special occasions then.

I dont know how this restaurant functions normally but I wasnt exactly super impressed with it when I went there for lunch with some colleagues during restaurant week. The reservation was for 10 pax and unfortunately, 2 pax were delayed due to some off-site meeting. So we placed the order for all 10 pax(menus were available online thus we could take the orders of the 2 «missing» colleagues). As much as I understand all the dishes at the same table ought to be served together, it doesnt make sense that 8pax has to wait for the remaining 2pax to arrive before we could start our meal cos the Chef has to prep the dishes of the table TOGETHER. Yes, I get that, But I believe there is always room for flexibility where the 8pax could have their meal cooked and served first and the remaining 2 pax to start when they arrive? Anyway, we were told our lunch slot is from 12nn — 1.30pm. At 12.55pm, the leading server came up to us and requested for us to leave cos the next group scheduled for 130pm lunch has arrived. This was really ridiculous. Bad service aside, the food was alright. Nothing spectacular as most of the dishes are in their regular menu. The food was enjoyable but the service somewhat spoiled it all. May want to come back on a normal day to check things out but for now, dont think it’ll be top of my list.

It’s restaurant week! So we bust out the cash at the chance to get a fine dining 3 course meal at a reasonable price. I believe that the menu, although specially designed for Restaurant Week, would definitely have what was offered on an a la carte basis. Salmon Roulade — great starter. I usually dislike cold starters because it does nothing to warm up the stomach juices for a great entrée ahead. But this, THIS was yum. 10 points for presentation too. Beef Loin with thyme scented red wine sauce — unbelievable. Probably the most decent medium rare cut of beef i’ve had in a really long while. Most places really cant catch the fine line between medium rare and medium but Chef d’Table does it superbly. It was tender, moist and pink on the inside, but so full of juices. Cheesecake — so-so. I’ve really had better. That said, i snuck some of my friend’s passionfruit panna cotta and it was mmmm really thick and consistent but with a subtle tang to end off the meal. Would definitely come back for the beef loin!
