Challenger

Located on the 6^th level, this is the flagship Challenger store with the largest selection of electronics and computer components.
They aren’t the cheapest in town, but the large variety of electronics makes up for it. Printers, mice, cellphone cases, charging cables… You name it, they most probably have it.
Their Valore and PRS items are store branded lower end components that you can get for cheap or free, after converting some membership rewards points.
The service is surly, the store layout and signs still need a bit of work, and so does the branding. Why they named themselves after the doomed space shuttle is really beyond me.
This is the nearest thing to Microcenter or Frys that you can get in Singapore. Despite my love-​hate relationship with this place, when the Funan shopping mall shuts down in June 2016, I’ll definitely miss this store.

This is the ultimate Challenger store. It occupies the entire 6^th floor of Funan. It has sections that span around in a maze-​like fashion to present mobile phones, computers, printers, home appliances, and associated electronics. The only lesser section is for video games, which doesn’t have much of a selection for buying. On the other hand, there is a huge two-​sided game and TV display, as well as several side TVs hooked up to consoles. So if you like playing around in the game section without buying anything, it is most suitable. The other sections have a better selection of makes and models than you will find in most stores. If you need to make a big purchase from Challenger or want to compare the specifications on many items in person, this is a good place to go. It is also nice for browsing due to the large selection and numerous display units.

Please note that this place does NOT operate 24hours any more (which used to be the best /​unique thing about it) and is now open from 10am — 10pm daily.
This is easily the largest of the Challenger stores in Singapore. The nearest MRT station is City Hall, from there it’s only a short walk down to Funan.
Located on the 6^th floor, this superstore stocks the full line of Apple products. To be honest, as a huge retailer of computer products, Challenger is not the place to find the cheapest and best deals on IT products. What I do love about this place is browsing through all the different things they have on offer (yeah I’m a geek).
Each year, my friend who is a major fan of Challenger requests only Challenger vouchers on her birthday. So there is an option for a birthday present for a tech geek… get them some vouchers and they can go wild at this store.
They also have some really sweet gaming laptops and sell all kinds of laptops, printers, office equipment, headphones, chargers, hard drives imaginable.

Challenger has steadily become the grocery superstore for IT over the years. They’ve got many stores scattered across the country but this is the top store to rule them all.
Being in the media industry, I’m often faced with crazy deadlines and although I try my very best to back up everything, make copies and have as many contingencies as I can. Once in a while, I find myself needing a new flash drivve, printer ink, empty DVDs, photo paper or a spare external hard disk when the rest of he world is asleep.
Clients don’t care if your equipment conks out on you. They care about you meeting deadlines.
Challenger at funan has saved my skin more than once!
