Heard from a friend who stayed here previously that the rooms were good so I decided to take my friend’s word and booked a weekend stay-cation here for my partner’s birthday. The lobby had a gorgeous scent and check-in was relatively fast though the front desk staff could do with more smiles and be a little more friendly. The lobby, though small, was clean and easy to navigate. We had a room on the 11th floor facing some of the office buildings but it was not an issue to us as the room was awesome. Our room had a small kitchenette area which was fully-equipped with proper utensils/pots/pans, microwave oven, electric kettle and an electric stove. I was quite surprised to find such a well-stocked ‘kitchen’ area in a hotel room. The bathroom was huge, in fact too huge for us. I thought the shower space was big enough to fit a bath tub which would be preferable compared to a huge square-sized shower space whereby only 1⁄3 of it was utilized. The hotel even allows guests to loan Movie DVDs from Level 1 and some of the movies were pretty new so kudos to them! Suggestion 1: No complains about the room but one suggestion though, perhaps they could loan guests iPhone 4 to iPhone 5 adapter so that we can use the Geneva in-room player. Called housekeeping but they didn’t have an adapter and playing music via Bluetooth doesn’t do the Geneva justice. Called housekeeping to order some pillows, extra slippers and shower foam and they answered quite fast and delivery of items were fast too. However, when we tried to call for some ice from Room Service, it took quite a while and I had to call two more times — maybe some improvements are needed there. Also, tried calling Guest Services twice on both days but somehow no one picked up. Seriously? Checked out the pool but it is nothing to shout about so I ditched the idea of having a swim and instead decided to work out in the gym. Suggestion 2: perhaps the hotel can look into having a loan of sports shoes to guests. I had forgotten to bring sports shoes even though I have every intention to go to the gym, having brought all my gear except for the shoes. The hotel staff who was on duty closing up the pool area happened to see me exercising barefooted on the yoga mat and he told me that proper footwear was required if I were to use the machines. After which, he left. After doing some stretching on the yoga mat, I decided to lift 2kg weights while sitting on the machine. The hotel staff came in again and demanded for my room number for precaution sake but to me, it felt like he was covering himself in case I injured myself. Anyway, hotel should look into loaning guests who are keen on working out in the gym but had forgotten to bring proper shoes. Overall, not a bad hotel as it’s located right next to Changi City Point which have lots of dining options, restaurants, apple A-lab repair center, Challenger, Uniqlo, supermarket and lots of shops. The hotel also offers complimentary shuttle service to the airport every hour on the hour until 1am. Suggestion 3: Hotel should look into having the shuttle time table displayed prominently in the lobby AND also in the room. Flipped through the room handbook and could not find the shuttle time table anywhere. There were mentions of shuttles to East Coast, Airport etc in the handbook but no time table anywhere whatsoever. And given that they never pick up when I call Guest Services, the hotel should seriously consider my suggestion. Before my reservation, I informed them that it was my partner’s birthday and they left a huge slice of mango cake in the room’s fridge for us. Was great of them to do that. Thus, despite some minor lapses in services that can be forgiven, I would give this hotel a rating of 4*. If these lapses can be improved, Capri by Fraser would easily be a 5*.

Nice place. Service oriented staff. Lots of little things that add up to a nice stay. In a really hip shopping area with great dining options. Newest thing is the manager takes guest out for mountain bike rides along the coastal riding trail. There are 8 trek bikes and helmets. Urban mellow bike trails. Very personal touch. Note: make sure you rooms are not over the subway construction.
