Located on the 1st floor of what used to be a space selling furniture and clothing you can now have a bite to eat. I went for the quiche set which comes with soup, salad and garlic bread. It is all non-fussy and average.

Located inside the relatively quiet Katong Village, this café offers a nice place to escape the mad rush and bustle of the nearby Joo Chiat and Katong area. The prices are not that wallet friendly especially when compared to nearby Group Therapy and Penny University Café. Still, they have a good selection of breads and good coffee. This place is definitely worth a try if you like the open concept cafes.

Bread & Hearth is the new coffee /pastry shop in the heart of Katong V mall. I’m so glad that this pastry shop filled the space once occupied by a dull furniture shop. In my opinion the big draw of B&H are the pastries. The Pain Au Chocolat, croissants, French apple turnovers are all pretty solid. I particularly love the buttery crust of the Pain Au Chocolat. It’s especially good after being heated(on request). Unfortunately, the selection at B&H, particularly the main courses, is limited to just quiche and a few select sandwiches: Bacon egg mayo, tuna sandwich, etc. yikes, not good because I hate sandwiches. Fortunately, this lack of selection is made up by a decent cup of Joe, in my case, a flat white. Given this limited selection, I can only give this place three stars. Group Therapy located a few steps away still reigns supreme in my eyes. The coffee selection is far superior and offers a full selection of high quality mains. Would I come back? Yes, but just for the $ 3 Pastries and free water. :-)
