This is one of the better choices among the restaurants outside the airport security gates. The ambiance is quiet and relaxing. They have an odd ordering system. You get a table first and figure out what you want. Then you go to the cashier to place your order and pay for it in advance. Your food is served to your table thereafter. This system leaves a lot of bored staff members standing around with little to do. However, it is well suited to travelers, since there are no strings attached to your meal(e.g. waiting for the bill, change, separate drink/food orders, etc.) and you can leave whenever ready. The new york strip was tasty, although undercooked to order. There are several steak options on the menu. For sides, I recommend the fries, corn on the cob, or bbq beans.

BACKGROUNDINFO: I eat at Astons often and has always loved their food so each review i have at Astons will be based on that day’s conditions so do take note of that before you read on! PRICE: REASONABLE Even though prices has gone up by $ 2 since last a year ago i still think their prices are quite affordable as their portions are pretty big! I ordered a double up chicken meal today to share with another friend for $ 14.90& one GREAT thing about ASTONSISNOGST&SERVICECHARGE! Amazing. WAITINGTIME: QUICK I waited 10 min for my double up chicken meal despite the flocking number of students that came in so it was a rather quick waiting time to me! HYGIENE: CLEAN Place was neat & organized & cutlery always sparkling clean and today is no different! ATMOSPHERE: OKAY Place is nice & rather quiet even with students around but this outlet has dim lighting so request for a closer to window seat for nicer pictures! FOOD: GREAT The food here never fails me. Always consistent in their standards & their chicken is always nice & tender with flavourful meat & skin! I ordered one of my favourites — Hickory Chicken & Black Pepper Chicken which was equally great! The sauce is always packed with flavour & the skin on the chicken is on point HAHALOVEIT! OVERALL: Very pleasant & always a nice place to go for nice comfort food or a surely satisfying meal ESPECIALLY when you are hungry so do try Astons out for a won’t-fail-you meal!

Fast, delicious & fulfilling. The service is extremely good and quick for such a busy outlet. It’s usually packed to the brim, but the staff keep things extremely efficient. As is usual with Astons, the food is very reasonably priced and proportions are more than adequate. Meals are well prepared and taste delicious. Overall, this outlet scores highly on the value for money front. The only drawback(and a small one at that) is the lack of desserts on the menu, but then again there are plenty more dessert outlets to frequent at Changi Airport.

Value for money for this western restaurant. This is like the«Low-Cost» version of fine dining. Considering this is at Changi Airport, one would expect cost to be higher but that’s not the case for this restaurant. Price is lower than most western restaurants and portion of the meal is quite reasonable. Nothing to shout about regarding the quality of the meal, but its good enough to satisfy one hunger. Often long queues especially during weekends and meal hours, so avoid this timing if you can! You have to pay for your meal first before settling down at your seat, Changi reward card is acceptable over here and its a great place to have a meal in a group. Restaurant is located a floor above the departure hall Terminal 1, near to the viewing mall.

My advice is that is you have a family don’t go to this place. I was here with my daughter and a group of friends. We sat for 40mins and they forgotten to take our orders. When asked the captain he ask who took our order(it was him) then he asked who took us to our seats. Why is it is concern to me?

surprisingly good food at this value-for-money home-grown american-food chain-outlet at changi airport’s terminal one(phew, that’s a lot of hyphens). it isn’t posh dining — more coffee-shop western store grown up more than anything else, but there was some proper food on the table and an astoundingly small bill at the end. and while cheap-and-cheerful springs to mind, I think that’s an understatement for one of the most economical meals I’ve had in singapore recently. this is the third — or fourth — outlet I’ve been, and the only one I’ve liked. the food isn’t that cheap, though admittedly cheaper than a restaurant, but most times I figured the price-utility balance was more in favor of hawker food. I suspect this outlet does well due in large part to a felicitous combination of more proficient kitchen staff and a larger crowd turn-around here — which means fresher ingredients due to constant replenishment. now, don’t go thinking that this place beats the socks off my favourite steak places — black angus and handlebar — because it doesn’t, but it does serve up good simple food(and really, the price is unbeatable). there is a large menu of mains — various permutations of fish, chicken, beef and pasta — and you generally pick a meat + two sides(how british!). the crispy fried chicken came with a good browned batter and tender meat — and the black pepper chicken moist under its blanket of sauce. but I was impressed with the beef — a sizeable portion with well-defined char. it was beefy and moist — my sirloin was very lean(just the way I like it), so you’ll want to go for another cut if you prefer something a little juicier. nto the highest grade of beef, but a good enough one — and more than satisfying enough for a steakcrave. the cooking is a little inconsistent — my medium-rare came a little more cooked than my dad’s medium — but both were pink, so it didn’t matter much. if you’re really bothered by this — then go one cooking measure below what you would ordinarily order. but I wouldn’t be such a stickler about such things here. the open concept — not a café, not yet a restaurant(in the adapted words of britney spears) — makes for a loud, casual place for dinner, and also for scoffing at(and showing off to) those people still shuffling outside for a table. you’ll spend a fair amount of time out there in the queue yourself — this place fills up fast, but tables move relatively quickly, and orders are taken before you’re seated — so the wait for food is a little more bearable. well-worth going for a steal — and if you get food as good as we had, then well-worth even that snaking queue.

This is a review of a lunch with a colleague at Astons Specialties in Terminal 1 at Changi International Airport. This is the second Astons I have visited. My first experience was slightly better than this one. The ambiance speaks to being a steakhouse. There is lots of wood. It is quite a large space. It is clean and well-kept. The staff was friendly, polite, professional and efficient. The entire process flowed in a timely manner. The food was simply not very good. Porterhouse — I ordered a porterhouse cooked medium rare. I received a porterhouse cooked medium to medium well. It was full of gristle. It was tough. It was the thinnest porterhouse I’ve ever seen. It was very difficult to eat and I did not finish it. The beans were pretty much straight out of a can. The fries were ok but there certainly wasn’t anything special. Iced Lemon Tea — This was a decent iced tea. It wasn’t as strong as I prefer. The lemon did not taste like fresh lemon. Receipt(Lunch for two — $ 59.80): I will note my colleague enjoyed his steak more than I did. His steak was not as brutally tough. Overall — While the service and ambiance are fine, my food was simply not very good. It is not super expensive but the food quality certainly doesn’t match the cost.

After the airport terminal 1 underwent a facelift, level 3 has a lot more dining choices than before. Astons Specialties is one of the new restaurants that was brought in. Since it opened its first outlet in Singapore, it has gained tremendous popularity and has been famed for its affordable prices and delicious steaks. Personally, I like the chicken and the generous amount of side dishes. I’ve been to this outlet several times with my family. The servers here are pretty attentive to our needs(you know… sometimes it gets a little more troublesome with little children at the table). Even though we are a group of 10, they were swift to make the necessary arrangements for us. Definitely one of the better experiences at Astons. There’s a reason why we coming back to this outlet in particular.
